Every token counts! 🧡

If you are stopping in at Z Energy Whanganui, don’t forget to pop your Good in the Hood token into the Hospice Whanganui box.

It’s such a simple way to support the work we do, helping us continue providing Specialist Palliative Care and support for families across our community.

Every token helps, so if you’re filling up or grabbing a coffee, we would love your support! 🧡

No Hospice thank you would be complete without a delivery of our famous cinnamon scrolls! Helen recently popped in to see the McCarthy’s team with a batch to say thank you in person. 💛

We're grateful for the ongoing support McCarthy Transport provides to Hospice Whanganui.

As a community organisation, we rely on the generosity of local businesses who choose to support the care we provide to patients and whānau across our region.

Partnerships like this help us continue delivering compassionate care, support, and dignity to those who need it most.

💛 Thank you, McCarthy’s Transport, for being part of our Hospice Whanganui whānau and helping us care for our community.

We’re in the Hood! 🧡 with Z Energy

Hospice Whanganui has been selected as one of four local groups in Z Dublin St’s Good in the Hood this year!!

From today until 14 September, when you make a purchase at Z Dublin St you’ll receive an orange token to vote for the local group you’d like to support.

There’s $5,000 to be shared between the four groups – and the more votes we receive, the bigger our share. So if you’re stopping by Z Dublin St over the next few weeks, we’d love you to pop your token in the Hospice Whanganui box.

🧡 Every vote helps support our mahi caring for people in our community and their whānau.

💛 What happens in 24 hours at Hospice Whanganui?

There really is no such thing as a typical day – but this snapshot gives you a glimpse of just how much can happen.

In one 24-hour period, our team completed 14 home visits, 21 phone calls and three visits to aged residential care, alongside new referrals, medical reviews, Whānau Support, whānau education and more.

And behind every one of those interactions is another layer of work – clinical reviews, medication management, meetings, education, audits, coordination and all the everyday tasks that help keep our care safe and responsive.

There was even time for a shared lunch and a little staff wellbeing. 💛

No two days at Hospice Whanganui look quite the same. What remains constant is a team working together to support patients and whānau wherever they need us.

☀️ We're going solar!

You may have spotted Hospice Whanganui in the Whanganui Chronicle this week...

Thanks to a $50,998 grant from Meridian Energy's Community Decarbonisation Fund, solar panels are coming to our Virginia Road site later this month.

For us, this isn't just about generating power. It's about reducing an ongoing operating cost so more of our funding can go where it matters most – providing free specialist palliative care and support to patients and whānau. 💛

We're incredibly grateful to Meridian Energy for investing in Hospice Whanganui and our community.

📰 The Whanganui Chronicle has shared the full story, including a chat with our Chief Executive Helen Leslie about what the project will mean for Hospice.

Some of our volunteers joined because someone invited them.

Volunteering in our hospice shops doesn't have to be a solo thing.

Every volunteer helps our shops raise the funds that support specialist palliative care for patients and whānau across our community.

Know someone who'd love this?

Bring them along for a chat. ❤️

🌿 Meet Kevin 🌿

Every Friday since 2013, Kevin has been helping care for the gardens at Hospice Whanganui.

Born and bred in Whanganui, Kevin has spent a lifetime contributing to our community. These days, alongside family, golf, and keeping active around town, he dedicates part of each week to helping keep our Hospice gardens looking their best.

For Kevin, volunteering is about more than gardening. It's about friendship, purpose, and making a difference.

"I like to think I've made a difference in a small way."

We're incredibly grateful for the time, care, and commitment Kevin has shared with Hospice Whanganui over the years.

Thank you, Kevin, for helping our gardens - and our community - bloom. 💛

These badges tell a story.

They say:
“I’m part of something.”

They say:
“I chose to be here.”

They say:
“I help make hospice care possible.”

Every volunteer who wears one helps our hospice shops raise the funds that support specialist palliative care for patients and whānau across our community.

👉 Ever wondered what it would feel like to wear one?
