Orderlies are often the behind-the-scenes heroes of healthcare, supporting patients, whānau and staff in countless ways. Whether they're transporting patients, delivering equipment, supporting clinical teams, or helping ensure our facilities operate smoothly, their contribution is essential to the care we provide.

Quite simply, we couldn't do what we do without them.

Their mahi touches every corner of our organisation, helping create a safe, caring and efficient environment for patients and colleagues alike. They are often a reassuring presence during a patient's journey and a dependable support for our clinical teams.

Need care, but it's not an emergency?

If your health concern isn't life-threatening, there may be options that can help you get advice or treatment sooner than waiting in the Emergency Department (ED).

✅ Your GP or practice nurse
✅ Online GP (free for children under 14, subsidised for adults with a Community Services Card)
✅ Urgent care clinics
✅ Your local pharmacist, Some treatments are now funded through Extended Pharmacy Services for eligible people, at participating pharmacies
✅ Ka Ora Telecare for after-hours care in rural areas
