🐝 Did you know?

As a bee visits flower after flower, tiny pollen grains become trapped in the branched hairs covering her body. She then uses her front and middle legs like little brushes to comb the pollen from her body and pack it into special pollen baskets on her back legs.

As she flies from bloom to bloom, she leaves some of that pollen behind—helping flowers reproduce and ensuring the growth of fruits, vegetables, and seeds.

Every flight a bee takes is helping to keep our ecosystems thriving. 🌼💛

Every bee counts. 🐝

Sadly, there's no market for us today—it's just a bit too wet, so we're unpacking the car and looking ahead to next week.

Unlike the amazing food vendors, who have food prepped and ready - so we will still be heading down for our regular morning brunch.

And we are all feeling a bit tired after the very early earthquake alarm this morning!

Stay safe, stay warm and dry, and we'll see you all next week. ❤️

🐝 Did You Know? 🌼

Bees don't just move pollen from flower to flower—they bring it home as food!

As they visit blooms, worker bees collect pollen and mix it with a little nectar before packing it into special "pollen baskets" on their hind legs. These colorful pollen pellets can weigh up to 30% of a bee's body weight—like carrying a backpack that's nearly a third of your own weight! 💪

Back at the hive, the pollen is stored and turned into "bee bread," a nutritious food that helps feed growing larvae and keeps the colony healthy.

And here's the amazing part: while they're collecting food, bees also leave behind tiny pollen grains on other flowers, helping plants reproduce. Every foraging trip supports both the hive and the environment. 🌸💛

Next time you see a bee with bright yellow or orange "saddlebags" on its legs, you'll know it's returning home with a precious harvest!

🐝🌼 Every bee counts. Every flower matters.

21 days after the queen lays an egg it will develop into a new adult worker bee! And at only 1.77mm long they can be hard to see.

As temperatures drop to around 10°C, bees stop flying and stay safely inside the hive. 🐝❄️

They gather together in a winter cluster, vibrating their flight muscles to generate heat and keep the queen and the colony warm until the weather improves.

Nature's teamwork at its finest. 💛🐝
