Where do we belong?

It's a question many of us carry, sometimes without even realising it.

In this week's episode of Constellations and All That, I sit down with Family Constellation facilitator and holistic health practitioner Tessa Hayson for a beautiful conversation about belonging, family, identity, grief, and the hidden stories that can shape our lives.

Tessa shares her own journey of growing up between family systems, carrying grief that wasn't hers, navigating multiple surnames, and ultimately discovering a deeper sense of belonging through Family Constellations.

One of the things I loved most about this conversation is the reminder that what we carry isn't always ours and that sometimes healing begins when we can gently return what belongs to those who came before us.

One of the beautiful things I have witnessed through Family Constellation work is how quickly judgement can soften into compassion.

Often what we have spent years trying to change about ourselves once had an important role.

Perhaps it helped us belong.
Perhaps it helped us feel safe.
Perhaps it was an expression of love or loyalty within our family system.

Rather than asking "What is wrong with me?"

Family Constellations gently invites another question:
I wonder what sits beneath this?

One of the things I love about Family Constellations is that it gently invites us to look beyond the surface.

Beyond the symptom.
Beyond the pattern.
Beyond the question of "What is wrong with me?"

And instead, perhaps ask:
What wants to be seen?
What wants to be acknowledged?
What story might still be waiting to be heard?

Time and time again, I have witnessed beautiful moments of insight, healing and connection emerge from simply allowing space for what sits beneath.
