This September, we're proud to be part of NZ’s Gifts in Wills Month – the perfect time to think about the impact you can leave behind.

We partner with EveryWill to offer free online wills, giving you the opportunity to leave a lasting gift to a cause close to your heart.

A gift in your Will to North Haven Hospice, no matter how big or small, can help us provide care in your community for years to come.

You don’t need to be wealthy to create a legacy, you just need to care.

Have you considered a gift that lives on?

In August, Harcourts raised an incredible $10,000 at their annual Harcourts for Hospice Race Day.

This is a clear expression of a community that cares. Harcourts' generosity is helping purchase a companion bed for our In-patient Unit, creating more opportunities for comfort, connection and precious moments together. The unique bed can be used as two separate beds or joined as one, allowing family members to sleep safely alongside their loved one during a profoundly important time.

The impact is real, tangible, and will be felt by local families for years to come.
Thank you for backing North Haven Hospice, giving back to the community, and helping make compassionate care possible.

A Will is how you can make sure your wishes are respected after you're gone.

It allows you to decide how your assets are distributed, who will care for your loved ones (including pets!), and how you'd like your affairs to be handled.

Without a Will, these decisions may be made by the courts, and often in ways you wouldn’t have chosen.

If you have a partner, children, whānau, or anything you'd like to pass on, it’s important to have a Will in place.

And with Gifts in Wills Month coming up this September, it’s a great time to take that step. We offer a free online will-writing service with EveryWill, making it easier than ever to protect what matters - and even leave a lasting legacy if you choose.

Taniwha defending the shield, community and a great cause - we’ll see you at Semenoff Stadium!

As Northland Rugby’s charity partner for the 2026 season, we’re looking forward to a great afternoon and evening of rugby on Sunday 30 August, with two games on the schedule at the almost-sold out Semenoff Stadium.

The Northland Men’s Development team takes on North Harbour at 2.35 pm, followed by the Taniwha defending the shield v Tasman at 5.05 pm at Semenoff Stadium, Whangārei.

Our North Haven Hospice team will be around the stadium collecting donations throughout both games, so if you’re coming along, make sure you stop by and say hello.

Every contribution helps us continue providing care and support free of charge to the dying and their whānau in our community.

What a taste to remember!

Last month, our community came together for A Taste to Remember and raised an incredible $8,382.25 for North Haven Hospice.

A huge thank you to all the cafés who took part, and to everyone who hosted their own Taste to Remember event too.

We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make A Taste to Remember such a wonderful celebration of food, memories and community.

Most people with us are looked after at home, whether that is a private home, retirement village, or aged care home, and are able to choose where they would like to die.

Some people North Haven Hospice care for require closer attention, or their symptoms are harder to manage at home. They may be offered the opportunity to come in for a short-term stay at our in-patient unit (often called the IPU), at our hospice building in Tikipunga, Whangārei.

Generally, people stay between 5 and 7 days, and return home when they are ready.

At times, we can also provide what is called respite care, allowing carers some time to focus on other matters, knowing their loved ones are well looked after by our team here.
