We provide a 5-bedroom Young Persons Unit alongside our 20-bed care wing

We are a 25 bed Care Home situated 3kms from the Winton township providing a wonderful rural environment, we care for young adults from the age of 16 years old to our centenarians. Set on 4 acres and surrounded by farmland, we are a 20 bed resthome situated 3kms from the Winton township providing a wonderful rural environment with a dedicated team of staff. We offer long and short term care for yo

ung and old as well as respected end of life palliative care. Our activities and outings are many and varied and we strive to
accommodate individual resident’s interests and preferences as much as possible. Owners Darren and Vicky, both registered nurses, live on site with their children, providing a real family atmosphere they would love to share with you.

The last couple of days we’ve been busy rock painting 🎨 which one is your favourite?!

This afternoon, Myles, Nina and I went to the walking track and popped them down in several places around the track 🌲

If you could give advice to your younger self, what would you say? 🤔

We spent this morning as a group trying to answer that question, reminiscing about our good and bad memories, laughing at the funny ones, and sharing words of encouragement when someone spoke about a tough time 💛

Then we put pen to paper and put our own thoughts into words, took a wee photo, and created some great wee cards that we’ve put up in our home 🥰

We really do love getting out there and being part of the community 💛

Today we took a trip to watch the Central Primary Schools Cross Country, where all the kids put in so much effort and enthusiasm 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Colin, Myles and Nina cheered, mingled and enjoyed the fresh air. Colin was delighted to get to watch some of his great nieces and nephews run their races as well 🥰

Today we celebrated 15 years of Darren and Vicky owning Rata Park Care Home 💛

There’ll be plenty more photos and videos from the day shared over the weekend, but we wanted to start by sharing this very special gift from the staff and residents to commemorate such an incredible milestone 🥰

This beautiful plaque was designed by local business CSDesignz here in Winton, and crafted from recycled Rimu weatherboard from the old Riverton racecourse. The pāua shell detail represents our Takitimu Mountains — a special touch that makes it even more meaningful to our home and community. It also features our well known ‘Country Living, Family Values’ slogan - something that truely reflects what Darren and Vicky have always made sure Rata Park has been about 💛

More than anything, one word kept being repeated throughout today… FAMILY

And that’s exactly what Rata Park is.

Thank you to everyone who came along and celebrated with us. It was a very special day for a very special place, filled with very special people.

Congratulations Darren and Vicky — 15 years is something truly worth celebrating 🥂💜

Today we are celebrating one of our absolute gems here at Rata Park Care Home 💐🎂

Happy Birthday to our amazing ARC Unit Manager and Senior HCA, Lexi! Yesterday we got to spend the day celebrating her with cake, flowers, laughs and plenty of love — exactly what she deserves 🌸

After more than 9 years with Rata Park, she has become such a huge part of our home and family. She is loving, loud, supportive, caring, cheeky, and somehow always on the go keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes 💛

Her residents and coworkers all know her as someone who will always lend a hand, have a laugh, and bring energy wherever she goes. We honestly wouldn’t be the same without her 🥰

We hope you have the best birthday and feel as appreciated as you make everyone else feel every day 😘💛

A single offhand comment about a staff member not knowing the chicken dance somehow turned into 30 minutes of laughter, questionable dance moves, and complete chaos 💃😂

I hit record on my phone just for fun… and somehow managed to turn half an hour of joy into 2 minutes of madness 😅

And yes… I may have slowed one part of the video down for dramatic effect 🙈🤣

Do I believe in asking for forgiveness instead of permission? Absolutely 😂

A massive THANK YOU to Katrina Ranginui, Glenys’ amazing daughter, who gifted us some beautiful oysters to share amongst the resident and staff 💛

Darren cooked them up in a beautiful batter, and to say they were a hit would be the understatement of the year! You can tell by the smiles how much everyone loved them 🥰

Then for Cinco de Mayo we whipped up a guacamole, some mocktails and had a festive afternoon tea 💃

Our residents stepped up as detectives, following clues all around the home to crack the case…
