As I was planting kale, broccoli, turnips, lettuce, and other seeds in the soil today, I was thinking about tending soil. Each packet has a time to maturity stamped on it. 22 days (radish), 47 days (dino kale), 95 days (broccoli). It’s pure magic that you tend the soil with nutrients like seaweed and compost, and place these little packets of bundled knowing into the dark earth. Where they soak in the nutrients from the sea and other decayed matter and the light of the sun, and grow in their own time into exactly what they had planned. Which is delicious food for our bodies. They return the favor of the care we gave to them.
This made me think about all of the beautiful and supportive women in my life who nurture me, and who have been such a big force for self love and believing in my magic. I think about the seeds I’ve planted in my mind, and my intentions reaching for the light of these relationships and nurture. In time, each one blossoms. Sometimes in a few days, sometimes a few months, and sometimes years later!
One of the intentions I nestled with love into the soil of my intentions years ago was the idea of offering a sacred space for women to feel the magic of their bodies. Playful, sexy and totally unreserved. Now, years later, I’m getting ready to offer this as a series at my friend’s studio. Stay tuned for details on this.
Another intention I planted with care last year was yoga for dental offices, geared towards unwinding all the chronic twisting and spinal crunching. Also geared towards turning the love and care inwards, and offering the same level of attention and focus to ourselves. I’m thrilled to be offering this to an office soon, and I know it will have ripple effects for these healthcare worker’s ability to show up for themselves and their family, friends and patients. If you’re a dental or healthcare practice in Southern Maine, and you want a yoga series in your office, DM or email me.
Wishing all of you the clarity to know what you’re planting in your soil. Self talk matters. Dream big and plant with care. We’ll be here to nurture you and give you light. Can’t wait to see what beautiful things you can create.
