3 things I wish someone had told me before I taught my first pregnant student…

Because I definitely did NOT feel prepared. 😂

1. You don’t need to completely change your class.
Pregnancy doesn’t mean your student suddenly can’t do yoga. It means you may need to offer different options based on where she is in pregnancy and how she feels that day.

2. There isn’t one “pregnancy modification.”
A 12-week pregnant student and a 38-week pregnant student may need very different things. And two students at the same gestation may need completely different options.

3. Confidence comes from understanding WHY.
Once you understand the changes happening during pregnancy, modifications become SO much easier. You stop memorizing a list of “do’s and don’ts” and start knowing how to actually make decisions in the moment.

I wish someone had taught me this before I started teaching pregnant students.

So if you’re a yoga teacher who has ever thought, “I have no idea what to do when a pregnant student comes into my class…”

You’re in the right place. 🤍

Comment “GUIDE” below and I’ll send you my free Prenatal Yoga Dos & Don’ts guide.

Yoga teachers — if a pregnant student walks into your class, you don’t need to panic.

But you do need to know how to support her.

Pregnancy isn’t just about putting a block under her hands or telling her to “listen to her body.”

Her body is changing constantly — her balance, breathing, core pressure, pelvic floor, energy, mobility, and comfort can all be different from one week to the next.

And two students who are both 20 weeks pregnant might need completely different modifications.

A few things I wish every yoga teacher knew:

✨ Don’t assume every pregnant student needs the same modifications. Ask questions, pay attention, and give options based on what you’re seeing and what she’s experiencing.

✨ Know how to modify the pose — not just remove it. Instead of automatically telling a pregnant student to skip something, think about the intention of the pose and how you can change the setup, range of motion, or position to make it more supportive.

✨ Think beyond the belly. Pregnancy affects so much more than just the physical shape of a pose. Breathing, balance, core pressure, pelvic floor function, circulation, energy and joint stability can all play a role in how a pose feels.

✨ Give options that still allow her to feel like part of the class. If something isn’t appropriate, offer an alternative that works toward the same intention rather than simply saying, “Skip this.”

✨ Remember that pregnancy is not one-size-fits-all. What feels amazing for one student may feel terrible for another — even if they’re at the same stage of pregnancy.

You don’t have to be a prenatal yoga teacher to teach a pregnant student.

But if you’re going to welcome pregnant women into your classes, I believe you should feel confident knowing how to make your class a safe, supportive and empowering experience for them. 🤍

If you want to feel more confident teaching pregnant students, comment “GUIDE” below and I’ll send you my free Prenatal Yoga Do’s & Don’ts Guide. 👇🏼

It’s a great place to start if you’ve ever thought, “Wait… am I actually supposed to be teaching this pose to a pregnant student?” 😂

Here are 3️⃣ things you might not know about Prenatal yoga!

🫶🏼Before I explain them, make sure to follow for all your Prenatal & Postnatal yoga teaching needs!

1️⃣ It’s not just gentle yoga! Prenatal yoga is a specific style of yoga which is designed for pregnant women. It doesn’t have to be gentle yoga, sometimes in pregnancy it actually can feel really nice to practice dynamic yoga, especially in trimester 2!

2️⃣ You do not need to be pregnant or ever have been pregnant to teach it!! No explanation needed- but make sure you are certified to teach and feel comfortable and confident to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga (if you’re not, make sure to check out our YTTs designed to help you teach prenatal and postnatal yoga with confidence 🔥).

3️⃣ In many cases, women can practice Prenatal yoga all the way up to giving birth! * Of course, make sure that women are feeling ok and have a doctors approval to practice yoga* The beauty of prenatal yoga is that we can modify it for what women need in each trimester!!

Calling all yoga teachers 👋🏼

Have you ever had a pregnant student walk into your class and thought…

“Okay… what am I supposed to modify?” 😅

You know you want to make her practice safe, but there’s SO much conflicting information out there about what pregnant students can and can’t do.

Do they need to stop doing twists?
What about core work?
Can they still do Sun Salutations?
Which movements actually need to be modified?

That’s exactly what we’re going to cover in my FREE Dos & Don’ts of Prenatal Yoga Workshop next Tuesday. 🤰🏼🧘🏼‍♀️

I’ll break down the key things you need to know so you can feel more confident and prepared when a pregnant student joins your class — without feeling like you need to completely rewrite your entire class.

✨ The 5 movements to avoid
✨ What to modify + how
✨ Prenatal safety considerations
✨ Common misconceptions
✨ How to confidently adapt your regular classes
✨ And yes… we’re talking about Sun Salutations 👀

Back in 2014, fresh out of my 200-hour training, an eight-months-pregnant student walked into my vinyasa class... and I completely froze. 🤯😰

I didn’t know what was safe. I didn’t know what to modify. I just tried to get through class without messing anything up.

That moment is exactly why I started specializing in prenatal yoga.

If you’ve ever felt that same panic — you’re not alone, and I made this free workshop for you.

We’re covering:
✓ The 5 movements that are not safe for prenatal students — and exactly what to offer instead, so you’re never caught off guard.
✓ Key safety considerations, common misconceptions, and practical ways to adapt your teaching without overhauling your class plans
✓ Sun Salutations: yay or nay? The straight answer, backed by real prenatal training — not guesswork.
✓ The common misconceptions that make teachers over-cautious, and how to adapt your existing class plans without overhauling them.
