CP Hagen 2 Supports Remote Western Highlands Community in Fight Against Yaws
CP Hagen 2 recently joined forces with UNICEF and the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority (WHPHA) to support a remote community in Western Highlands Province affected by cases of yaws, a contagious bacterial skin disease that primarily affects children.
The community, located in a hard-to-reach area with limited access to health services and hygiene products, has been experiencing challenges in preventing the spread of the disease. Poor sanitation conditions and limited availability of basic hygiene supplies can increase the risk of transmission, making preventive measures and community awareness critical.
As part of this collaborative effort, CP Hagen 2 donated handwash and laundry detergent to assist families in improving personal hygiene and maintaining cleaner household environments. The supplies will help community members implement regular handwashing and proper laundering practices, which are essential in reducing the spread of infectious skin diseases.
The initiative complements ongoing public health efforts led by UNICEF and the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority to address the outbreak through community education, awareness campaigns, and health interventions. By working together, the partners aim to strengthen disease prevention measures and promote healthier living conditions for affected families.
