⚠️ URGENT PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE:
Voluntary Recall of Select NANKID & NAN Batches

Dear parents and caregivers,
The health and safety of your little ones are my top priority. I am writing to inform you that Nestlé Philippines has issued a voluntary, precautionary recall for specific batches of NANKID® OPTIPRO® and NAN® OPTIPRO® products.

Why is this happening?

The recall is a precautionary measure following the detection of a quality issue with an ingredient (arachidonic acid oil) provided by a supplier. This ingredient may contain cereulide, a toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus.
Symptoms to watch for:
If consumed, this toxin can cause rapid onset of symptoms (usually within 30 minutes to 6 hours), including:
* Severe nausea and vomiting
* Abdominal cramps
* Diarrhea

🔍 How to check if your product is affected
Not all NANKID or NAN products are affected—only specific batch numbers. Please follow these steps to verify your supply:
* Locate the Batch Code: Look at the bottom of the tin or the foil packaging inside the box.
* Identify the Code: The code is typically 8–10 characters long with no punctuation (e.g., 51660742F3).
* Verify Online: Visit the official Nestlé batch verification tool to enter your code:

What should you do if your batch is affected?
* STOP USE IMMEDIATELY: Do not feed the product from the affected batch to your child.

* DO NOT BOIL: Please note that cereulide is heat-stable; boiling the water or formula will not destroy the toxin.

* REQUEST A REFUND/REPLACEMENT: Contact the Nestlé Consumer Hotline at (02) 8898-0061 or visit the link above for instructions on how to return the product and receive a refund or replacement.

* CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR: If your child has recently consumed formula from an affected batch and is showing symptoms of vomiting or lethargy, please contact me or your nearest pediatric clinic immediately.

All other Nestlé products and batches not listed in the recall are confirmed safe to consume.
Please share this with other parents to ensure everyone is informed.

Health is Wealth: A Year of Lessons from Both Sides of the Stethoscope 🩺❤️

As a doctor in public health, I spend my days advocating for the well-being of our community. But this year, the "patient" was my own family, and the lessons were deeply personal.
2025 was a marathon of medical challenges for us:

• My Mom underwent a life-saving Open Heart Surgery for an aortic aneurysm. Despite moments of losing hope, she survived this high-risk procedure.
• My Partner, immediately after escorting my mom to the Heart Center via ambulance, had to undergo an emergency Appendectomy.
• My Grandpa battled a Pleural Effusion, requiring a pleural catheter and nearly a month of intensive care.
Through every surgery and recovery, I was reminded of a simple truth: Health is a treasure that no amount of wealth can replace. We are incredibly lucky to have come through these trials together.

As we head into 2026, please don’t take your well-being for granted. Prioritize your check-ups, listen to your body, and cherish your loved ones.
