STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS: BATCH 2 OF BASIC LIFE SUPPORT AND CPR TRAINING FOR BHWs
The Mdrrmo Angadanan in collaboration with the Rural Health Unit (RHU), conducted the Second Batch of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) on October 1–2, 2026, at the RHU Function Hall, Centro 3, Angadanan, Isabela.
The two-day training was conducted as part of the municipality’s efforts to strengthen community preparedness and emergency response capacity in accordance with Republic Act No. 10121, or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
The second batch was attended by BHWs from the barangays of Allangigan, Bannawag, Barangcuag, Bonifacio, Buenavista, Bunnay, Calaocan, Campanario, Ingud Norte, La Suerte, Liwliwa, Lourdes, Mabuhay, Macalauat, Macaniao, Mangandingay, Rang-ayan, San Guillermo, San Marcelo, San Roque, Salay, Santo Niño, Saranay, Sinabbaran and Victory.
BNS from barangays of Bantug, Dalenat and Villa Domingo
The training provided the participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in Basic Life Support, CPR, FBAO, Rescue Breathing, recognition of life-threatening emergencies, and the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, the BHWs were given the opportunity to practice appropriate responses during emergency situations.
As community-based health workers, BHWs are often among the first individuals available to respond when emergencies occur in their respective barangays. Strengthening their BLS and CPR competencies helps promote timely and appropriate first response while awaiting further medical assistance.
The activity was implemented by the MDRRMO headed by Mr. Joel M. Matias, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Angadanan and the Rural Health Unit, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Joelle Mathea S. Panganiban and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Princess Faith P. Penetrante.
Every second counts. Every trained responder matters.
