Sharing our publication in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, which I worked on during my Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Nara Medical University, Japan in 2023.

This was done under the mentorship of Professor Yasuhito Tanaka, together with Assistant Professors Akira Taniguchi and Hiroaki Kurokawa. Grateful for the training and opportunity to work with them.

May bukol ba sa gilid ng hinlalaki?

Achilles tendon rupture is a serious injury that can affect walking and mobility.

One surgical option is percutaneous (minimally invasive) repair, which uses smaller incisions compared to traditional open surgery.

This technique may help reduce wound complications and allow earlier recovery when combined with proper rehabilitation.

If you suddenly feel a “pop” in the back of your ankle, weakness when pushing off, or difficulty walking — it’s best to get evaluated early.

🦶 “Hindi lahat ng sugat sa paa ng may diabetes ay kailangang mauwi sa putol.”

Ito ang mensahe ng IWAS PUTOL: Tamang Hakbang sa Pag-aalaga ng Diabetic Foot 🩺 — isang lecture na naglalayong magbigay kaalaman kung paano maiiwasan ang amputasyon sa mga pasyenteng may diabetes sa pamamagitan ng tamang pag-aalaga ng paa at maagang pagkilala sa problema.

📍 Noong February 27, naidaos ang ikatlong leg ng lecture sa Villaba, Leyte, kasama ang mga barangay health workers at lokal na doktor. Tinalakay dito ang basic diabetic foot care, mga babalang senyales ng sugat sa paa, at pagwawasto ng mga karaniwang maling paniniwala tungkol sa diabetic foot.

Ang lecture series na ito ay pinangunahan ng Department of Orthopedics - Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, at nagsimula sa San Fernando, Pampanga, sinundan sa Bacolod, at ngayon ay naidaos na rin sa Villaba, Leyte 📚

Sa pamamagitan ng tamang kaalaman sa komunidad, mas maraming paa ang maliligtas.

This post shows the recovery progression following percutaneous (minimally invasive) Achilles tendon repair from return to tennis 🎾 to current scar appearance and an overview of the technique.

Minimally invasive approaches aim to restore tendon continuity while limiting soft tissue disruption. Smaller incisions may help reduce wound complications and support earlier functional rehabilitation when combined with proper postoperative management.

Most importantly, I’m glad to see the patient return to playing tennis. A reminder that successful outcomes depend on both the repair and the rehabilitation that follows 🙏
