PHILHEALTH OPTOMETRY BENEFIT PACKAGE
👓 Who Can Avail the PhilHealth Optometry Benefit Package?
Good news for parents! PhilHealth now offers an optometry benefit package for qualified children to help support better eye care and vision correction. To qualify, the child must meet the following requirements:
1. ✅ Must Be a PhilHealth Member or Qualified Dependent
The child should either:
* be a registered PhilHealth member, or
* be listed as a dependent of an active PhilHealth member.
📌 The child’s PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) is required.
2. 👧👦 Child Must Be 0–15 Years Old
This benefit currently applies only to pediatric patients aged 15 years old and below.
3. 👀 Must Have an Eye Condition or Refractive Error
The child must be diagnosed by a qualified eye care professional with:
* nearsightedness,
* farsightedness,
* astigmatism, or
* another eye condition that can be corrected with prescription glasses.
4. 🏥 Must Be Enrolled in the PhilHealth Konsulta / YAKAP Program
To access the benefit, the member or dependent should be registered with a PhilHealth-accredited Konsulta or YAKAP provider.
5. 🔍 Must Undergo Vision Screening or Assessment
An eye examination or vision assessment must first be performed by:
* qualified healthcare providers, or
* accredited eye care facilities.
6. 🩺 Must Be Medically Eligible
Children whose vision problems cannot be adequately corrected with eyeglasses alone may be referred to an ophthalmologist for further management.
7. 📄 Must Have a Referral From the YAKAP Facility
To avail of the package:
* the child must have a referral form from the YAKAP facility, and
* services must be obtained from PhilHealth-accredited optometrists or optical clinics.
8. 📅 Benefit Can Usually Be Availed Once Per Year
Eligible children may generally use the package once annually.
9. 💰 Coverage Is Up to ₱2,500 Per Year
The benefit package may cover:
* 👓 Vision assessment and refraction
* 🕶️ Eyeglasses (standard frames and lenses)
* 🔄 Follow-up consultation
10. ✨ Premium Upgrades May Require Additional Payment
Basic frames and lenses are covered, but choosing:
* branded frames,
* premium lenses, or
* special add-ons
may require additional out-of-pocket payment.
