Warts: What You Need to Know. 🧬

In this episode of our Skin Lesion Series, Dr. Sean Ligsay explains what causes warts, how they spread, and why proper diagnosis matters.

Warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and may spread through direct skin contact, contaminated surfaces, or small breaks in the skin. Different types can appear on different areas of the body, including common, flat, plantar, filiform, and ge***al warts.

Some ge***al warts are considered sexually transmitted infections, which makes proper evaluation especially important for accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.

At DERMIS, treatment options may include cryotherapy, laser, electrocautery, topical medications, or other dermatologist-guided approaches depending on the type and location of the wart.
