Butterflies in my stomach! 🦋

What a surreal and humbling moment to see the legend himself cite our research work during his lecture at the 62nd Mastery in Surgery Annual Convention of the UP-PGH Department of Surgery.

Seeing our work on caustic ingestion during the COVID-19 pandemic presented alongside decades of UP-PGH experience was truly a proud moment. From doing the research to seeing it become part of a larger story of surgical experience and learning—this one hits differently.

Grateful, inspired, and definitely a moment to remember. 🙏🏻💙

🎗️ Empowering Through Cancer Awareness

Knowledge is one of our most powerful tools in the fight against cancer.

We recently had the opportunity to conduct a Cancer Awareness Lecture on Stomach and Thyroid Cancer, where we discussed important risk factors, warning signs, prevention, early detection, and available treatment options.

From understanding the role of H. pylori in stomach cancer to knowing when a thyroid or neck lump needs further evaluation, our message was simple:

Know your risk. Recognize the warning signs. Seek medical advice early.

Cancer awareness is not about creating fear—it is about empowering people with the right information to make informed decisions about their health. Early and appropriate evaluation can make a meaningful difference.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, asked questions, and helped make the discussion engaging and worthwhile. May we continue to spread awareness not only during cancer awareness activities, but within our families and communities as well.

I am truly honored to receive the Rising Star – Rookie of the Year award.

Thank you to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center for recognizing my efforts. This achievement would not have been possible without the support and trust of my fellow Carmelian doctors, the dedicated hospital staff, and, most importantly, my patients.

When I started my practice here in Pampanga, I initially felt lost as I adjusted to a new environment after training at PGH. However, I soon realized that this institution and its people embody the very same core values that were instilled in me during my training: “Magaling, Mabait, at May Malasakit sa Kapwa.”

Receiving this recognition inspires me to continue serving with excellence, compassion, and integrity. Thank you for believing in me. I look forward to many more years of caring for our patients and growing together with the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center family.

Grateful to have presented our research, “Upstaging of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ on Biopsy: A Retrospective Analysis from Core Needle Biopsy to Definitive Histopathology,” at the 10th Annual Convention of the Surgical Oncology Society of the Philippines.

Medicine is a lifelong journey of learning. Every patient we meet, every research project we complete, and every conference we attend teaches us something new. I’m thankful for opportunities like these that allow us to share ideas, learn from one another, and bring those lessons back to our patients.

At the end of the day, research isn’t just about publications or presentations—it’s about finding better ways to care for the people who trust us with their health.

Thank you to my mentors, colleagues, and everyone who made this work possible.

This Father’s Day, I remember my father, who is now in heaven. Much of what I have achieved was made possible by his love, hard work, sacrifices, and belief in me long before I believed in myself. Though he is no longer here to witness this chapter of my journey, his lessons, values, and sacrifices remain with me in every patient I serve and every life I touch.
