BALANCE FIRST. THEN STRENGTHEN.
Because strength thrives on balance.
For active people: You can’t strengthen your way out of imbalance.
For sedentary people: You can’t build balance without strength.
I've seen too many people get treated over and over again for a problem that wasn't actually the source of their pain.
STORYTIME:
Let me give you three examples.
CASE 1: THE GLUTES
A few days ago, an Australian athlete (or was she Texan? 😅) told me her glutes had been bothering her for the longest time.
Her family are chiropractors in Australia, so she'd already had plenty of adjustments.
When I assessed her, her glutes weren't the problem.
(My clients know I always check everything.)
I found a displaced cuboid bone in her left foot and a problem in her right thoracic region. All this time, the source of her symptoms had been overlooked.
I told her to have her chiropractors reassess her when she got home.
CASE 2: THE KNEE
A woman came to me with persistent knee pain. She'd already seen several therapists and chiropractors, both locally and abroad.
Her X-rays showed no abnormalities, yet the problem persisted.
My assessment pointed to an issue at L1–L2, with her left knee potentially compensating for dysfunction elsewhere.
(How did I assess it? Trade secret 🤓)
CASE 3: THE FROZEN SHOULDER
Just yesterday, a woman came in complaining of a frozen shoulder.
She'd had it massaged, treated with blading, and even blamed her workouts for the problem.
But when I addressed her L5, her shoulder symptoms disappeared.
The unfortunate part? Her trapezius muscle had already taken a beating from all the treatment.
It may have been compensating all along, rather than being the original problem.
THE TAKEAWAY?
Pain isn't always coming from where you feel it.
And when we focus only on the painful area without assessing the rest of the body, we risk treating the symptom while overlooking the underlying cause.
Sometimes, the answer isn't more treatment.
It's a better assessment. 😇
