🔊 Head and neck malignancies also include cancer of the skin (cutaneous) in these regions.

💡Recognizing the potential signs of skin cancer, and understanding the difference between a friendly mole versus a more worrisome one, can be life-saving, and less disfiguring.

📍A quick way is to know the "ABCDE" of moles:

🫧 A - Assymetry: One half of the mole does not match the other half in shape or size
🫧 B - Border: Irregular, uneven, ragged, notched/raised, or blurred edges
🫧 C - Color: Multiple or uneven color shades (black and brown; patches of pink, red, white, or blue)
🫧 D - Diameter: Bigger (larger than 6mm or 1/4 inch inch wide)
🫧 E - Evolving: Changing in size, shape, color, or height; starts to itch, bleed, or crust

⚡️ ️So stay alert and do monthly self-check on your moles!😊

✨ ️And if you find a suspicious looking one, or one that looks different from all your other moles -- it is best to schedule a visit with your specialist. 👩‍⚕️

✅️ Keep in mind that early detection significantly improve outcomes. 👩‍⚕️

📢 What to do when you, or someone you know, accidentally SWALLOWED their DENTURES (or other FOREIGN OBJECTS/ BODIES such as: coins, batteries, toys, food bolus, etc.) ❓️

✅️ DO NOT induce VOMITING.

📍 This can be DANGEROUS. It can be aspirated into the lungs, or cause tear or perforation if the object is sharp or has pointed edges (and may also cause burns for objects like button batteries or magnets)

✅️ DO NOT give anything to eat or drink.

✅️ If you can SEE the object, REACH AND SWEEP out of the mouth.

📍NEVER REMOVE or sweep if you CANNOT SEE it.

📍DO NOT attempt to RETRIEVE if you feel that it is within your throat: this may push the object/blockage deeper into the airway, or further embed the object (fishbone, needles or pins etc).

✅ ️If the person is CHOKING, you may do BACK BLOWS or ABDOMINAL THRUSTS as FIRST AID.

✅ ️SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL HELP if you/someone are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

📌 Unable to speak or cannot/weak cough (choking)
📌 Difficulty breathing
📌 Painful swallowing or discomfort
📌 Feeling that the object is lodged on your throat/chest area
📌 Throat and chest pain
📌 Nausea and vomiting
📌 Abdominal pain

📢 This needs to be REMOVED ASAP to minimize the risks of serious complications, such as: 🤯

🔶️ Airway obstruction
🔶️ Esophageal perforation
🔶️ Intestinal obstruction

🔊 A gentle REMINDER to prevent such incident/s: 🚑🏥🩹

🔰 Be MINDFUL how you handle and wear your dentures.

💡Clean it properly
💡Avoid dropping or breaking
💡Replace or repair dentures immediately.

🔰 Ensure that they FIT PROPERLY.

💡Regular dental check ups, denture maintenance and adjustments with your LEGIT DENTISTS are important for oral health care and mantaining a proper fit.
💡Ill fitting or loose dentures are more prone to ingestion.

🔰 CHEW FOOD SLOWLY

💡There is an increase risk of ingestion during eating, drinking and sleeping
💡 Be careful when eating sticky or hard foods (also choking hazzards especially for younger children and elderly) that may cause dentures to slip
💡 Always REMOVE when sleeping.

🔰 Give AGE-APPROPRIATE TOYS to children and always SUPERVISE them as much as possible.

🔰 Keep your surroundings or home tidy to ensure that potential hazzards (or possible harmful objects) are kept away from our kids, as they are playful and curious by nature. 👶

📢 Keep safe. Ride safe. Be vigilant. Stay calm.

💡 These are some of the instruments we use in Maxillofacial Trauma.

ORIF is a surgical procedure to repair displaced, complex, and comminuted facial bone fractures

📍Open Reduction - exposing broken bones and putting them back into place

📍Internal Fixation - stabilization of fractures using titanium plates and screws

💡 Why is there a need to fix displaced, complex, and comminuted facial bone fractures?

✔️ Anatomical realignment
✔️ Faster return to function
✔️ Avoid long term complications
✔️ Better comfort and nutrition
✔️ Restoration of facial aesthetics and symmetry

📌 Let us all avoid and prevent trauma. 🚑

📢 What does your earwax do?

📍 Your earwax serves as your ear's built-in defense mechanism and self-cleansing system.

📢 Should you always clean the inside of your ear?

📍NO.

📢 Why?

📍1. It is unnecessary.

Your ear is self-cleaning, meaning, they are designed to clean themselves. Earwax is produced within the ear, and migrates from the inside to outside naturally, to fall out. No routine maintenance is required.

📍2. It may be harmful.

Inserting a cotton bud into your ear may push earwax further, or damage your eardrum, and can lead to impaction or infections.

📍3. Earwax is not a sign of poor hygiene. It is there for a reason:

📌 It acts as NATURAL MOISTURIZER, preventing the skin inside the ear from becoming too dry
📌 It TRAPS dirt and prevents insects, and other foreign bodies before they reach the canal
📌 It acts as a WATER REPELLENT preventing water from entering, and protects your ear when water gets in
📌 It ABSORBS dead skin cells and debris and carries them out with it
📌 It contains ANTIMICROBIAL properties that inhibit bacterial and fungal growth, reducing the risks of infection
📌 It PREVENTS bacteria and other infections from reaching the middle and inner ear structures

💡Over cleaning, especially with cotton bud or metal spoons, can remove this protective layer leading to:

✔️ DRY, ITCHY and VULNERABLE EARS 👂

💡To mantain the health and integrity of your ear canal and eardrum

✔️ LEAVE YOUR EARWAX ALONE 😊

💡And if you experience any of the following:

📌 Difficulty hearing/ hearing changes
📌 Ear blockage or fullness
📌 Itching
📌 Ear pain, swelling and redness,
📌 Drainage (fluid, pus, or bloody ear discharge)
📌 Foreign bodies (insects, toys, seeds, etc.)
