RECAP | May 19, 2026, the CLMMRH Toxicology Care Center (TCC) provided technical assistance to the Negros Island Region Center for Health Development – Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) Unit during the Road Safety Program Orientation Part II.

Representatives from the Department of Health – Disease Prevention and Control Bureau Central Office, Dr. Clariza Fernandez and Dr. Renz Queano, led discussions on the importance of accurate and timely road crash injury reporting. They emphasized how strengthened reporting systems can enhance surveillance, support evidence-based policy development, and improve road safety programs that protect communities and save lives.

The activity was attended by representatives from various Local Government Units (LGUs) across the Negros Island Region, reflecting strong regional collaboration and commitment toward safer roads and more effective emergency response systems.

Meanwhile, Dr. Patrick Tiglao, Consultant from the CLMMRH Department of Emergency Medicine, shared practical insights on patient transport and emergency care coordination, highlighting the importance of safe, timely, and efficient transfer systems during trauma and emergency situations.

RECAP | May 20–22, 2026, stakeholders from various Toxicology Specialty Centers across the Philippines convened for the National Stakeholders’ Meeting on the Development of the Manual of Standards for Poison Information Services (P*S) for DOH Toxicology Specialty Centers. The three-day activity served as a vital platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and strategic planning toward strengthening toxicology and poison information services nationwide.

Leading the initiative, Dr. Cherie Grace Quingking, Project Lead of the manual and Head of the CLMMRH Toxicology Care Center, underscored the significance of establishing standardized Poison Information Services systems across the country. She highlighted the importance of developing a unified toxicology registry, enhancing surveillance mechanisms, and promoting evidence-based data collection to improve poisoning prevention, risk assessment, and patient care outcomes in the Philippines.

The meeting was conducted in collaboration with East Avenue Medical Center – Toxicology Referral and Training Center, recognized as the National Specialty Center for Toxicology. Meaningful discussions and technical sessions focused on strengthening the national framework for poison information services and ensuring a more coordinated and responsive toxicology network.

A key highlight of the activity was the presentation on surveillance methodologies by Dr. Rosalie Zamora, which provided valuable insights expected to significantly contribute to the formulation of national P*S standards and surveillance strategies.

The successful conduct of the stakeholders’ meeting reflects the continued commitment of healthcare institutions, toxicology experts, and the Department of Health toward building a stronger, more standardized, and evidence-driven Poison Information Service system for the Filipino people.

RECAP | May 20, 2026, healthcare professionals from the various nursing units of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital gathered in Bacolod City for an insightful and educational lecture entitled “General Approach in Management of Poisoned Patients.” The activity served as an avenue to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and skills in handling poisoning and toxicologic emergencies through timely assessment, prompt intervention, and evidence-based patient management.

One of the major highlights of the lecture was the discussion on Medication Management and the Reporting of Drug-Related Sentinel Events, which emphasized the critical role of safe medication practices, accurate documentation, and effective communication in preventing adverse events and ensuring patient safety. Participants were reminded of the importance of vigilance, accountability, and teamwork in delivering quality healthcare services.
