A real friend will never try to own you. They will walk beside you, give you the freedom to grow, and remind you that the world is far too beautiful to be seen from inside someone else’s cage.

They will not make you feel guilty for exploring life beyond them. They will celebrate the people you meet, the places you discover, and the person you are becoming.

Because real friendship is not possession.

Friendship is presence without control,
closeness without captivity
with love that gives you room to breathe.

The right people will never ask you to make your world smaller just to make them feel bigger.
They will open the door, walk with you when they can, and still smile when your journey takes you somewhere they cannot follow.

A true friend does not become your whole world. Instead, they will help you see how beautiful and vast your world can be.

To every worker who continues to give their best, even without recognition: 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨. 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.

A worker's position may be small, but their worth is never less.

𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙪𝙥 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙝𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙. They continue working despite personal struggles. They give their best even when nobody notices.

Yet, too often, they are the first to be blamed, the last to be heard, and the easiest to replace.

And when they finally leave, 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙮. Sometimes, they leave because they can no longer bear the pain of being treated as if they do not matter.

You can replace their names on the payroll. You can hire someone to fill their positions. But you cannot easily replace the experience, sacrifices, and heart they have given to their work.

𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚.

Respect them.
Listen to them.
Value them while they are still there.

Because behind every successful organization are ordinary workers whose contributions are anything but ordinary.

𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚.

This is 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖𝙝.

She had one dream: 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝘿𝙃𝘿.

As a Psychology major, she joined a community fieldwork mission, as a volunteer, eager to learn and discover.

She was uncertain. Inexperienced.
But she showed up. She listened. She tried.

And what she discovered changed her perspective forever.

That day, 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚.

She realized that 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 that needs understanding, guidance, and support.

That 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙'𝙨 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥. She wanted to become a voice for those who struggle to be heard.

Today, Hannah continues to pursue her advocacy, 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚.

She is learning. She is trying.
But 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜.

She realized that sometimes, one experience is all it takes to awaken a lifelong calling.

She is Hannah Damasco, your 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙉𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 2.

Yes, it was her first time. But it changed her life.

And someday, 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚'𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚, 𝙩𝙤𝙤.

𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚, 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝.

This is Dr. Niño.

A psychologist. A clinician. A mentor. And a son who deeply loves his mother.

She may no longer be physically beside him, but her words and love continue to guide the person and professional he is today.

When he once told his mother that he wanted to pursue his doctorate, she simply asked:

“Bakit ka pa magdo-doktor, eh psychologist ka na?”

Later, those words came to mean something more.

Maybe she was not questioning his dream. Maybe she was simply telling her son that he did not need another degree, title, or achievement to prove his worth.

𝙏𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝.

Today, Dr. Niño continues to serve, lead, and stand for his profession. His mother may now be in heaven, but her voice remains with him in every dream he pursues, every person he helps, and every good thing he chooses to give back.

Good luck, Dr. Niño, on your candidacy for the PAP Clinical Psychology Division. May you continue to lead with competence, integrity, and heart.

She may no longer be here to see how far you have come, but you carry a part of her with you in every step forward.

I no longer need everyone to understand my story. Maybe I made mistakes along the way, but those who never carried my pain will never fully understand the choices I had to make just to keep going.

I survived. That is enough.
