FORGIVE ONESELF

When we think of forgiveness, we often think about forgiving others. While this is 100% true, the most important person you have to forgive during addiction recovery is yourself. During addiction, you may have done things you’re ashamed of or said things you regret. In order to move on and truly heal, you have to forgive yourself.

Acknowledge your wrongdoing, apologize and cancel the debt. Move on and don’t punish yourself any more. Studies show that doing so can awaken and heal specific parts of the brain.

After we forgive ourselves and experience healing, forgiving others becomes a natural byproduct. We naturally want to extend to others the very things we are experiencing.

REDEEM YOUR SOCIAL CONDITION

When a person is actively using (drugs or alcohol), there may be some horrible things he is capable of doing, but another person can contribute towards making life better for others; some in very small ways and some in more significant ways.

Redeeming a person's social condition requires full recovery from the substance abuse. First is to be able to have the serenity to accept the things he cannot change, courage to change the things he can and wisdom to know the difference.

At Better Days Ahead Recovery Center, recovery is more than healing—it is also learning life-saving skills. As part of our commitment to continuous growth and rehabilitation, our residents and staff participate in various trainings that promote responsibility, confidence, and preparedness.

One of these valuable trainings is Basic Life Support (BLS), conducted by the dedicated team of Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade . Through this program, participants gained practical skills that can help save lives and respond effectively during emergencies.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade for sharing their time, expertise, and passion for service. Together, we continue to build not only recovery, but also resilience, compassion, and readiness for a better future.
