The Bago City Primary Care Facility (PCF), through its Community-Based Disease Surveillance System (CDSS), in coordination with the Provincial Health Office Infectious Disease Cluster, commenced the two-day Entomological Survey Training in Barangay Dulao, Bago City. The training is being conducted from July 30 to 31, 2026.
The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers in conducting entomological surveillance as part of the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases. Specifically, it focused on assessing mosquito distribution and density, identifying areas at risk for disease transmission, monitoring insecticide resistance, evaluating the effectiveness of existing vector control interventions, and promoting evidence-based and sustainable vector management strategies.
The orientation sessions and hands-on field exercises equipped participants with practical knowledge and skills in standard entomological survey methods, mosquito larval and adult vector surveillance, data collection, and the interpretation of survey findings. These skills are essential for evidence-based planning and the effective implementation of dengue prevention and control activities.
Participants were composed of doctors, midwives, and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), whose active participation contributed to the successful conduct of the training and enhanced the city's capacity for vector surveillance and outbreak preparedness.
