June is Cataract Awareness Month!

The best time for cataract surgery is not necessarily when the cataract is "mature" or "hinog" but when it begins to affect your daily activities and quality of life.

Cataract surgery is usually a once-in-a-lifetime procedure for each eye. Once the cataract is removed, it does not grow back. This surgery is an opportunity to improve your quality of vision for many years to come.

Talk to your ophthalmologist to understand your options and make an informed decision about your vision, taking into consideration your lifestyle, work, hobbies, and visual needs.

Q: Can cataracts return after surgery?

A: Cataracts cannot return after surgery because the clouded lens is replaced with an artificial one. However, a condition called posterior capsule opacification (PCO) can develop, causing vision to become cloudy again. PCO is treatable with a simple, non-invasive laser procedure.

Screen Time Overload? Give Your Eyes a Break

Long hours on gadgets can lead to digital eye strain. This can cause dryness, headaches, blurred vision, and neck pain.

Follow the 20 20 20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Adjust screen brightness, blink more often, and maintain proper distance from your device.
Your eyes were not designed for nonstop screen time. Take care of them.
