As part of the celebration of the 52nd Nutrition Month, the National Nutrition Council - Cordillera Administrative Region successfully conducted the 2026 Nutrition Month Regional Poster Making Contest, anchored on the theme "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!"

The contest provided young artists from across the Cordillera an opportunity to creatively illustrate the vital connection between nutrition, environmental stewardship, and sustainable food systems. A total of 43 original poster entries from Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, and Baguio City were evaluated based on relevance to the theme, creativity and originality, visual impact and artistic quality, and clarity of message.

The entries were evaluated by the following panel of judges:
Mr. Crisante Rosario - Agriculturist II, Department of Agriculture - Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR)
Ms. Sheridan Athena Gajete - Head Cluster, National Youth Commission (NYC) - North Luzon
Mr. Harold Banario - Igorot Artisan and Artist/Painter

The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) conducted the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Pro (MELLPI Pro) in the Municipality of Barlig, Mountain Province, one of the contenders for the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award.

The evaluation team was composed of Ms. Bella Basalong, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of the National Nutrition Council โ€“ Cordillera Administrative Region (NNC-CAR), Ms. Eleonor Ayan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development โ€“ Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR), and Ms. Justine Salacan, Project Development Officer I of NNC-CAR.

As part of the activity, the Municipality of Barlig underwent CROWN validation to assess its nutrition governance, program implementation, and sustained efforts in improving the nutritional status of its constituents. The Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator (MNPC) also underwent evaluation as part of the MELLPI Pro for Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs).

The MELLPI Pro serves as a mechanism for assessing the performance of local government units and Local Nutrition Focal Points, recognizing best practices, and identifying opportunities to further strengthen nutrition governance and program implementation.

The National Nutrition Council โ€“ Cordillera Administrative Region commends the Municipality of Barlig and its Local Nutrition Focal Point for their continued commitment to advancing quality nutrition programs and services for their community.
