In celebration of Nutrition Month, the Barangay Cabad successfully conducted a Nutrition Month Culmination Program in collaboration with the Day Care Center and with the active participation of the Women’s Association. The activity aimed to promote proper nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and environmental stewardship in support of this year’s Nutrition Month theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan.”

The program commenced with a short lecture on the 10 Kumainments, where participants were reminded of the importance of consuming a balanced and varied diet, maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, practicing proper hygiene and food safety, choosing nutritious foods, and adopting healthy lifestyle habits. The lecture encouraged parents and community members to apply these nutrition messages in their daily lives to improve the health and well-being of their families.

Following the lecture, various educational and interactive contests were conducted. The Nutri-Cooking Contest showcased healthy, affordable, and nutritious dishes prepared using locally available ingredients, demonstrating practical ways to prepare balanced meals for the family. The Nutri-Poster Making Contest encouraged participants to creatively illustrate the significance of proper nutrition and environmental protection in line with the Nutrition Month theme. Meanwhile, the Nutri-Veggie Costume Contest featured children wearing colorful and creative costumes made from vegetables, fruits, and recyclable materials, promoting healthy eating habits while encouraging environmental awareness and resourcefulness.

To further support the nutritional needs of the children, a feeding program was also conducted during the culmination activity. Nutritious meals were served to the participating children, reinforcing the importance of consuming healthy foods for proper growth and development. The feeding program highlighted the community’s commitment to improving child nutrition and promoting healthy eating practices among families.

The active participation of the Day Care Center, the Women’s Association, parents, children, and barangay officials greatly contributed to the success of the event. Their cooperation and enthusiasm reflected the community’s shared commitment to promoting nutrition, health, and environmental responsibility.

The program concluded with the awarding of certificates and prizes to the winners and participants in recognition of their creativity, skills, and active involvement. Overall, the Nutrition Month Culmination Program successfully strengthened nutrition awareness, encouraged healthy lifestyle practices, and fostered stronger collaboration among community stakeholders. The activity served as a meaningful reminder that achieving better nutrition and protecting the environment are shared responsibilities that require the participation and commitment of every member of the community.

In support of the 2026 Nutrition Month Campaign guided by the overarching theme, “Sa PPAN, Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat,” and with this year’s sub-theme “NUTRISYON AT KALIKASAN ATING PANGALAGAAN!”. It highlights the vital connection between nutrition and the environment, emphasizing that protection of natural resources is essential to ensuring sustainable food systems, food security, and good nutrition for present and future generations. The Barangay Cabad Nutrition Committee actively participated in the Fruit-Bearing Tree Planting Activity organized by the Provincial Nutrition Council.

The tree planting activity was attended by representatives from the Cabad Women’s Association, Senior Citizen Organization, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholar, Barangay officials, and Barangay Tanods. Participants worked together in planting various fruit-bearing tree seedlings in the designated area, demonstrating their shared commitment to protecting the environment while ensuring future access to nutritious fruits for the community.

The activity emphasized the importance of integrating nutrition and environmental stewardship. Fruit-bearing trees not only contribute to a greener and healthier environment but also provide sustainable sources of nutritious food that help improve food security and support healthy lifestyles.

Through this meaningful initiative, participants strengthened their commitment to promoting nutrition-sensitive programs and preserving natural resources. The successful conduct of the activity reflected the community’s collective effort in achieving a healthier population and a sustainable environment, truly embodying the spirit of the 2026 Nutrition Month theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan.”
