When Life Gets Heavy, You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone. 💚
As part of the Mental Health Month 2026 Celebration at Holy Name University, our 3rd-year students came together for a meaningful afternoon of reflection, conversation, and connection through the seminar, “When Life Gets Heavy: Finding Meaning, Strength, and Resilience in Our Stories.”
Held on October 7, 2026, at the HNU Barder Gymnasium, the session provided a space for our Holynamians to pause from the demands of academic life and reflect on the experiences that have shaped them—the struggles they have faced, the challenges they continue to carry, and the strength they may not always recognize within themselves.
Because sometimes, life gets heavy.
There are days when motivation feels distant, challenges seem overwhelming, and the things we once handled with ease suddenly become difficult. There are moments when we question our direction, our abilities, or even our purpose.
And yet, behind every difficult experience is a story.
A story of struggle.
A story of growth.
A story of strength.
A story of becoming.
Anchored on this year’s theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” the seminar encouraged students to look at their experiences with greater compassion and understanding. Rather than viewing hardships simply as obstacles, the session invited them to reflect on what their experiences have taught them, how they have grown through them, and what continues to give their lives meaning.
The conversation also reminded us that resilience does not mean being strong all the time. Sometimes, resilience looks like asking for help. Sometimes, it means taking a pause. Sometimes, it is simply choosing to try again tomorrow.
Your struggles do not make your story less worthy. They are part of the story you are still writing.
Through meaningful discussions and reflections, our students were reminded that they do not have to navigate life's difficult moments alone. There are people willing to listen, communities ready to support, and spaces where their experiences can be heard without judgment.
A heartfelt thank you to our speaker, faculty members, student leaders, peer facilitators, and everyone who contributed to making this meaningful conversation possible. And to our 3rd-year Holynamians, thank you for being present, for listening, for sharing, and for allowing yourselves the space to reflect.
May you continue to find strength in your experiences, meaning in your journey, and courage in the moments when life feels heavy.
You have survived difficult days before. You are still becoming. And you don't have to carry everything alone. 💚
