The Dr. PJGMRMC Department of Family and Community Medicine conducted a rabies awareness campaign in Guimba, Nueva Ecija, on August 13, 2026.
The activity is one of the department’s advocacies aimed at raising awareness of animal bite prevention, control, and management.
The activity was attended by rural health nurses and Brgy Healthcare Workers (BHWs), under the supervision of Dr. Maricell Javate Tantingco, chief of clinics at the Guimba community hospital and a graduate of family medicine practice - based residency training.
Dr. Casimiro Galapon, the city administrator, delivered the welcome remarks.
We sincerely thank Mayor Jesulito Galapon, DMD, the local chief executive, for welcoming us to his municipality and supporting our endeavor.

The department held a tree planting activity on Sept 5, 2026, at Brgy. Poblacion West, Rizal, Nueva Ecija.
With the theme “A Seed Today, A Shade Tomorrow,” this endeavor is our department’s planetary health advocacy initiative that aims to foster a sistainable, green environment today and in the future.
We are greatful to Hon. Brgy. Kapt Diosdado V. Mactal Jr., Brgy. Councilor Annaliza V. Roque, and our Brgy Healthcare Workers, for their unwavering assistance.

The department conducted a hypertension training module for the Barangay Healthcare Workers of the Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija, on April 23, 2026.

The Department Head, Dr. May Castro, spearheaded the activity, together with the Residency Training Officer, Dr. Rommel Irabagon, the Chief Resident, Dr. Eunice de Vera, the Assistant Chief Resident, Dr. Lalaine Bernardino, third-year resident, Dr. Mariel Cara - Paulino, and the first-year resident, Dr. Bernadette Castillo.

Also in attendnace were the postgraduate and junior interns rotating in the department, as well as the first-year medical students of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Medicine.

The department would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Judith Marie Pesebre - Padilla, City Health Officer of Science City of Munoz, for allowing the department to conduct the program with her BHWs.

The Department Head, Dr. May Castro, together with the Chief Resident, Dr. Eunice de Vera and the community rotator, Dr. Bernadette Castillo, met with Hon. Diosdado V. Mactal and Hon. Analiza V. Roque, Barangay Captain and Councilor respectively of the department's adopted community, Brgy. Poblacion West Rizal, Nueva Ecija.

The department's community engagement activities strengthen relationships between healthcare professionals and stakeholders by fostering collaboration in the development and ex*****on of programs.

We are pleased to announce that our Chief Resident (Traditional Training Program) Dr. Eunice de Vera’s clinical paper, titled: “MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL-SITUS INVERSUS TOTALIS AND ALPHA THALLASEMIA IN A 51-YEAR-OLD FEMALE: A CASE REPORT,” was accepted for poster presentation at the 30th WONCA Europe Conference, which will take place in Paris, France, from June 30 to July 3, 2026.
