๐Ÿš€ Central Luzon Data to Policy (D2P) Training Workshop โ€“ Unit 1 ๐Ÿš€

From April 20โ€“24, 2026, health professionals from DOH hospitals, LGUs, and academic institutions across Region III came together to sharpen their skills in turning data into evidenceโ€‘informed policy briefs.

Participants engaged in handsโ€‘on sessions on problem framing, root cause analysis, gender and stakeholder analysis, cost analysis, and policy writingโ€”producing draft policy outputs on road traffic injuries, cervical cancer, tuberculosis, and dengue.

In this activity, we proudly acknowledge the active participation of our D2P team headed by Dr. Victoria C. Bayro, Dr. Timothy Hudson David C. Carandang, Mr. Melvin R. Estolano, and our partners form Talavera General Hospital headed by Dr. Catherine R. Salazar and Ms. Liz Jasmine Dimaya.

This milestone was made possible through the dedication of our mentors, facilitators, and partners from CHD CAR, CHD Central Visayas, CHD MIMAROPA, UPโ€‘NIH, and Vital Strategies, and the commitment of all participants. ๐ŸŒโœจ

โœจ Research Mentoring in Action! โœจ

Last April 29โ€“30, the DR. PJGMRMC Training Room became a hub of learning and collaboration as we held our Research Mentoring Workshop. The event brought together RDU members, research coordinators, consultants, allied employees, and research team members from Talavera General Hospital for two days of insightful discussions and capacityโ€‘building.

We are especially grateful to Mr. Renz Tating, who served as our resource speaker and shared valuable expertise that inspired and guided our participants.

โœจ Collaboration in Action! โœจ

Last April 16 in Clark, Polly Hipkiss and Prof. Dr. Jennifer Ann Cole from Royal Holloway, University of London brought together over 25 researchers from Region IIIโ€™s policy and public health sectors for dynamic discussions on a potential project in advancing climateโ€‘sensitive disease risk prediction.

We are grateful to our colleagues from DOH Central Luzon, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Department of Agriculture Central Luzon, Angeles University Foundation, NU Clark, and PSA Region III Central Luzon for their active participation.

We are especially proud of our institutional representatives: the PETRU headed by Dr. Imelda M. Sanchez, the IRB headed by Dr. Victoria C. Bayro, the RDU chaired by Mr. Melvin R. Estolano, and our HESU Nurse Ms. Maria Jessica Roxas.

It was truly inspiring to exchange insights on disease risk forecasting in Central Luzon. The energy and commitment shared during this gathering fuel our excitement for the future impact of these collaborations in strengthening research and public health preparedness. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ก
