Borja General Hospital is a Level II hospital with a 250-bed capacity serving the people of Cagayan de Oro City and its neighboring cities in Northern Mindanao. The 100- bed JRBGH established in 1963 is the only local government hospital in Cagayan de Oro City catering to an estimated 687,427 population with the vision that “By the year 2016 JR Borja General Hospital shall be the nation’s premier

local government hospital with fiscal autonomy and preferential option for the poor and the underprivileged.”

To date, the city hospital has achieved an unprecedented success as a health care provider that were evident in their service deliveries - a success story worth replicating in all government run hospitals.

J.R. Borja General Hospital proudly celebrates the Laboratory Department for achieving its 4th consecutive year of OUTRIGHT COMPLIANCE with zero deficiencies during the annual monitoring of the Department of Health Region 10 – Regulations, Licensing and Enforcement Division (RLED).

As a hospital owned and operated by the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro City, this milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence, quality service, and patient safety.

We are also proud to share that JRBGH was previously recognized as a national model hospital in the implementation of the World Health Organization and Department of Health One Health Program for Laboratory, a testament to our leadership in advancing integrated and high-quality laboratory services.

Celebrating Another Milestone Achievement for JRBGH 💚

The Department of Health Region 10 – Regulations Licensing Enforcement Division (RLED) Licensing Inspection and Monitoring conducted last April 28–29, 2026, has successfully concluded, yielding highly commendable feedback.

With no significant findings and only minimal areas for improvement, this outcome reflects JRBGH’s steadfast commitment to excellence in upholding quality standards as a 250-bed Level II hospital.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated RLED Team B, led by Dr. Bradley Bob dela Calzada, for their thorough inspection and unwavering support. Your guidance continues to inspire us to enhance our services and better meet the needs of our growing patient population.

Inactive personnel eligible for the Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) for August 2022 and December 2022 may claim their allowance on:

🗓 April 29, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 4th Floor Auditorium, J.R. Borja General Hospital

Please ensure all required documents are prepared for a smooth claiming process:

1. TO THOSE RESIGNED/RETIRED PERSONNEL WHO ARE IN THE CITY, please secure a photocopy of any valid ID with three (3) signature specimens for each month of your HEA.

2. TO THOSE RESIGNED/RETIRED PERSONNEL WITH AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE (SPOUSE, PARENTS, AND CHILDREN), please secure a photocopy of any valid ID of the employee and authorized representative with three (3) signature specimens for each month of your HEA and Authorization Letter.

3. TO THOSE RESIGNED/RETIRED PERSONNEL WITH AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE (RELATIVES, SIGNIFICANT OTHER, COLLEAGUES, AND FRIENDS), please secure a photocopy of any valid ID of the employee and SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY (SPA).

4. FOR DECEASED PERSONNEL, spouse, parents, siblings, or next of kin must secure a copy of the death certificate and a photocopy of any valid ID for each month of the HEA.

⚠️ Please be informed that those who will not be able to claim their Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) on the abovementioned date must proceed to the City Hall Finance Office to claim their allowance UNTIL MAY 5, 2026 ONLY.

Borja General Hospital took a significant step toward enhancing support for vulnerable children through an on-site visit for the proposed One-Stop Shop (OSS) dedicated to victims of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM).

Led by Hon. Judge Abouben Jade R. Pabellan-Bacal, together with key partners from the justice sector, the visit highlighted a shared commitment to building a safe, accessible, and responsive space for survivors.

A collaborative discussion facilitated by our Women and Children Protection Unit followed, focusing on strengthening coordination and delivering comprehensive medical, legal, and psychosocial services—all in one place.

In observance of Holy Week, please be informed that the Outpatient Department (OPD) and Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) of J.R. Borja General Hospital will be closed on April 2–3, 2026 (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday).

Regular clinic operations will resume on April 6, 2026 (Monday).

🚨 Emergency services shall remain open and available 24/7 to attend to urgent medical concerns.
