Laging maging handa sa mga lindol at gawin ang DUCK, COVER, and HOLD. Pinaalalahanan din ang mga nasa baybayin na maging alerto sa mga senyales ng paparating na lokal na tsunami:

SHAKE o malakas na lindol

DROP o biglaang pagbabago sa antas ng tubig-dagat;

at ROAR o kakaibang tunog tulad ng dagundong ng papalapit na alon.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The Department of Health Center for Health Development โ€“ Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD-NM), through the Research, Epidemiology, Surveillance, and Disaster Response Unit, conducted the Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response and Epidemic-Prone Disease Case-Based Surveillance (EDCS) Training for Newly Hired Disease Surveillance Officers last May 25-29, 2026 at Pearlmont Hotel to strengthen the regionโ€™s disease surveillance and reporting systems. The activity aimed to equip newly hired Disease Surveillance Officers (DSOs) with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to effectively carry out disease detection, reporting, and surveillance functions in accordance with national policies and standards.

Aligned with DOH Administrative Order No. 2021-0057 or the Revised Guidelines on the Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (PIDSR), the training emphasized the importance of integrated surveillance systems in ensuring timely detection, reporting, and response to public health threats. Participants were provided with comprehensive discussions on PIDSR, EDCS, Basic Epidemiology, Event-Based Surveillance and Response, specimen management, data management, and report generation. It also highlighted the critical role of Disease Surveillance Officers in supporting local health units and strengthening disease reporting mechanisms at all levels of the health system.

Through this initiative, DOH CHD-NM continues to enhance the competencies of frontline surveillance personnel and strengthen the regionโ€™s preparedness and response to emerging and re-emerging diseases. By promoting timely, accurate, and evidence-based disease reporting, the Department reinforces a responsive surveillance system that supports informed public health action and advances the 8-Point Action Agenda on โ€œHanda sa Krisis.โ€
