Public Statement on Abuse in Rehabilitation Centers
We stand in outrage against the sexual abuse and exploitation occurring within certain rehabilitation centers. These institutions are meant to be places of healing, safety, and dignity — not sites of corruption and predation.
When managers, owners, or staff exploit vulnerable clients, they commit acts that are not only immoral but criminal. Survivors of addiction deserve compassion and professional care, not manipulation and abuse.
Equally disturbing are the systems that enable these crimes: families who protect abusers, institutions that silence victims, and cover-ups that prioritize money over justice. Such practices perpetuate harm and betray the very mission of recovery.
We demand:
- Criminal accountability for perpetrators of abuse in treatment centers.
- Transparency and oversight to ensure that rehabilitation facilities uphold ethical standards.
- Protection for survivors so they can heal without fear of retaliation or silencing.
Rehabilitation must never be a cover for exploitation. It must be a sanctuary for recovery, dignity, and hope. We call on authorities, communities, and families to stand against abuse, expose corruption, and protect those who entrust their lives to the promise of healing
