Dok Paolo Gaane attended the Emergency Hybrid Meeting on the Extreme Heat Index yesterday, August 18, where city officials and concerned agencies discussed measures to protect students and teachers amid dangerous heat conditions.

The meeting focused on strengthening heat index monitoring, improving coordination and public advisories, and establishing clear guidelines for class suspensions. It also discussed empowering school principals to suspend classes when the heat index reaches the danger level of 41Β°C and above, in line with DepEd guidelines.

Dok Paolo Gaane joined yesterday’s 49th Regular Session of the 21st City Council, where important measures for the people of Cagayan de Oro were discussed and approved.

Among these was Ordinance No. 2026-363, sponsored by Dok Paolo Gaane, which strengthens support for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children aged 0–59 months through the Barangays First 1000 Days Mother-to-Mother Support Group.

The ordinance promotes proper nutrition, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and regular monitoring of mothers and children during the first 1,000 days, from pregnancy until a child turns two.

Other measures approved during the session included the CY 2026 budgets of several barangays and SK councils, the Social Protection Development Report 2026–2028, civil registration services, local government partnerships, and social service programs.

DOK PAOLO GAANE sponsored 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐒𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐍𝐨. πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ”-πŸ‘πŸ”πŸ‘, which was approved today. The ordinance institutionalizes the Barangays First 1000 Days (BF1KD) Mother-to-Mother Support Group and strengthens nutrition support for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children aged 0–59 months.

Under the ordinance, the City Health Office (CHO), in coordination with the City Nutrition Committee, City Breastfeeding and Infant and Young Child Feeding Task Force will lead the implementation of the program. Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars will also help provide guidance, nutrition education, and support to mothers and young children at the barangay level.

The program encourages mothers to learn from and support one another while promoting proper nutrition, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and regular monitoring of children during their first 1,000 days, from pregnancy until a child turns two.

DOK PAOLO GAANE received a Plaque of Commendation for Excellence in Public Service and Community Engagement yesterday during the 2026 UNIFFIED International Educators Summit in Cagayan de Oro City.

The recognition is a meaningful acknowledgment of his support for the successful hosting of the summit and his efforts to help welcome educators from different parts of the world to Cagayan de Oro.

With the theme β€œEducators as Changemakers: Redefining Learning in a Borderless World,” the summit highlights how education can inspire people, open opportunities, and create positive change.

DOK PAOLO GAANE attended yesterday’s Committee on Sports and Youth Development meeting, presided over by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala. The Committee discussed important matters for the youth of Cagayan de Oro.

The agenda included the Comprehensive Youth Development Codes of Barangays Indahag and Balulang, as well as the Oro Youth Development Council’s proposal for funds to establish and develop a public skateboarding facility in the city.

As a member of the Committee, Councilor Gaane continues to support programs that give the youth more opportunities in sports, development, and other activities that help them grow.
