NYSTAGMUS in Children is a condition where both eyes make rapid, uncontrolled, repetitive movements—usually side-to-side, up-and-down, or circular.

Signs to Watch For:
✏️Involuntary eye shaking or wandering.
✏️Tilting or turning the head into an odd position to try to steady the eyes ("null point").
✏️Sensitivity to bright light.

Accommodative Exotropia is a relatively uncommon disorder which results from uncorrected myopia.

📑Less accommodation is required for near work in such patients so that normal convergence is minimised and the eyes tend to turn outwards.

📝Presentation is usually after 5 years of age as most infants are hyperopic at birth. Not infrequently, the patient is an adolescent who prefers poor vision to wearing glasses.

🖍️Symptoms are minimal as sensory mechanisms are usually normal. There is often a family history of myopia.

NYSTAGMUS is an involuntary, rapid, and repetitive movement of the eyes. The eyes can drift slowly and jerk back (jerk nystagmus) or oscillate rhythmically like a pendulum (pendular nystagmus). The movements can be side-to-side (horizontal), up-and-down (vertical), or circular (rotary).

Common Symptoms
📌Reduced visual acuity or blurry vision
📌Oscillopsia (a sensation that the world or environment is shaking)
📌Problems with balance, coordination, and depth perception
📌Head Tilting

Accommodative Exotropia is an eye misalignment where the eyes drift outward due to the visual focusing (accommodative) system.

Symptoms:
📌Outward turning of one or both eyes, often worsening when tired or inattentive.
📌Eye strain, headaches, and blurred vision during prolonged near work.
📌Difficulty reading or avoiding visually demanding tasks.

In cases of Intermittent Exotropia, the eyes may over-accommodate to keep targets clear, fatiguing the eye muscles and leading to a loss of alignment.

📌Most commonly appears in children over 5 years old or in adolescents.

🔑Often presents as one eye drifting outward when tired or doing near work. It can be intermittent at first and become constant if left untreated.
