🤰 Dear Pregnant Mothers: Why You Should NOT Push Too Early During Labor

Feeling pressure during labor can make you want to push — but pushing too early (before full dilation) can actually slow things down.

🚫 Why Early Pushing Is Not Helpful

🔸 Cervix may not be fully dilated (10 cm)
Pushing before full dilation can cause cervical swelling.

🔸 It can slow labor progress
A swollen cervix makes it harder for the baby to descend.

🔸 Increased exhaustion
You may become too tired before the real pushing stage.

🔸 Higher risk of tears
Forcing pushes too early
can increase trauma.

✅ When Is the Right Time to Push?

✔ When the cervix is fully dilated (10 cm)
✔ When your healthcare provider confirms it’s time
✔ When you feel a strong, uncontrollable urge to push
