NUTRITION MONTH 2026: Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!

Every year, the Philippines celebrates Nutrition Month (NM) to promote greater awareness and collective action toward improving the nutritional status of Filipinos, mandated by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 491 of 1974 or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines. It is a yearly campaign that aims to raise awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and encourage everyone to make healthier food choices. This year's celebration reminds us that eating healthy can start with simple, practical, and budget-friendly choices especially for us students.

Hey, UEPians! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Itโ€™s Nutrition Month, yaโ€™ll! And yes, you can be healthy without making your allowance disappear faster than your motivation during exam week. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Whether you're living in a boarding house, cooking your own meals, or trying to survive on a student budget, here are 10 Healthy-Tipid Tips to help you eat well, spend wisely, and stay healthy! โœจ

1. PLAN BEFORE YOU SHOP. Meal plan muna, bestie! Create a simple shopping list so you can avoid budol buys, impulse buying, and food waste.

2. BUILD A BALANCED PLATE. Go, Grow, and Glow! Make sure your meals have foods that give you energy, support growth, and keep you healthy.

3. CHOOSE NUTRITIOUS AND AFFORDABLE FOODS. Healthy doesn't always mean "mahal". Choose budget-friendly, local and seasonal fruits and veggies whenever possible.

4. LEARN TO COOK. Time to unlock your boarding-house chef era. Prepare simple and healthy meals instead of always eating out.

5. PACK YOUR OWN MEALS. Baon is the real MVP! Bringing homemade meals can help you save money while making healthier food choices.

6. MAKE WATER YOUR GO-TO DRINK. Water supremacy mga sissy. Choose water more often instead of sugary drinks. Hydrated ka na, tipid ka pa!

7. CHECK YOUR FOOD STOCK FIRST. Before you add that item to your cart, check your pantry or boarding-house stock first. Use what you already have.

8. DON'T WASTE FOOD. Be a food-saving icon! Use your ingredients wisely and eat foods that are close to spoiling first.

9. LIMIT HIGHLY PROCESSED FOODS. Instant noodles, chips, processed meats, and sugary drinks? Enjoy them less, too much is a "No No No" choose healthier options whenever you can.

10. CARE FOR BOTH YOUR HEALTH AND YOUR WALLET. Your health and your budget deserve the same energy. Healthy food doesn't always have to be expensive. With smart planning and wise choices, you can eat well without overspending.

THIS NUTRITION MONTH, LET'S MAKE EVERY PESO COUNT AND EVERY MEAL MATTER! ๐Ÿซถ

So, UEPians, are you ready to enter your Healthy-Tipid Era? ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿค—

PLAN SMART. SPEND WISELY. EAT WELL. STAY HEALTHY MGA VAVEE.

Processed meat products like bacon, deli meat, and hot dogs have been classified as carcinogenic to humans due to their link to colorectal cancer. The Physicians Committee is urging the USDA to require warning labels on these products.

The legal petition calls for labels that clearly state processed meat products may increase colorectal cancer risk.

The Physicians Committee is asking for these warnings to be included on packaging so consumers are informed about the potential health risks.
