“Before: Needs 2 people just to walk.
Now: Walking independently without a cane.”
This is why Occupational Therapy matters.
This stroke patient started therapy needing 2-man assist just to walk safely. Through structured Occupational Therapy home care sessions, focused on functional mobility, balance training, and real-life activities, the patient can now walk independently inside the home.
In Occupational Therapy, we focus on functional mobility — the ability to move safely and independently during everyday tasks like getting out of bed, walking to the bathroom, transferring to a chair, and performing self-care activities.
We don’t just exercise muscles.
We train the movements people actually need in daily life.
Because therapy is goal-directed and functional, patients often achieve meaningful improvements in fewer sessions while gaining more independence.
Seeing patients regain their confidence, independence, and dignity after stroke is one of the most rewarding parts of my work as an Occupational Therapist.
