Say good-bye to dark lips!
Lip pigmentation can be either a darkening of lips with the appearance of spots or a two-tone lip colour which is also known as βlip discolorationβ. It is a common skin condition normally due to exposure to extreme weather conditions (dryness or sun exposure) or to bad habits (alcohol, smoking) or to particular health disorders (anemia, melasma) or simply for genetic reasons.
How is lip pigmentation treated?
The depigmentation process involves the use of Laser.
What is the mechanism of action involved?
Laser Depigmentation is based on selective photothermolysis principle. Laser energy is transformed into ablation energy, resulting in cellular rupture and vaporization with minimal heating of the surrounding tissue. Different laser techniques have been used for treatment of oral melanin pigmentation. The technique requires high accuracy and precision and involves the depigmentation of the lips through the utilization of Laser by using specific parameters, different for each case.
Does it hurt?
The level of discomfort is different for every person depending on the severity of the case. The majority of our patients do not request any pain control after treatment and relate the discomfort as comparable to mild sunburn. As per our protocol, your lips will be anesthetized prior to the treatment.
What to do after laser treatment?
πΉAvoid sauna use
πΉActive exercise
πΉHot baths until the redness has faded.
πΉAvoid any skin irritants for seven days following the treatment.
πΉIt is important to avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks after the treatment
πΉDo not tan, and use SPF 30 sunscreen daily.
