i’m glad to share that my article, “Improvising Survival Without Guarantees: A Constructivist Grounded Theory of Attitudes Toward Aging Among Middle-Aged Gay Men in Cebu City, Philippines,” is now published online in the Journal of Homosexuality (Q1).

drawing on constructivist grounded theory, i theorize how middle-aged gay men in Cebu City make sense of growing older—the study develops a substantive theory of how middle-aged gay men in Cebu City navigate growing older, the uncertainties they face, and the ways they improvise to get by without guarantees.

— a beautiful full-circle moment. a decade ago, i was just a student listening on the sidelines of the mental health conversation. today, i’m drafting the protocol and presenting the working draft of the Crisis Referral Pathway to the Cebu City Mental Health Council. it is a privilege to represent CIT-University Psychology and our shared mental health advocacy. ✨🦋

grateful for the space to connect with professionals from different fields in education and health, alongside government agencies led by my mentor, Hon. Councilor Dr. Michelle Abella-Cellona. a rich exchange of insights on how we can collectively elevate mental health support in our local schools in Cebu City. 💪
