The Project Management Team of the SINAG Project convened today to discuss updates and key preparations for the upcoming implementation of the project.

The meeting was attended by representatives from various offices and partner agencies, in collaboration with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI). The discussion focused on aligning plans, strengthening coordination, and ensuring that the necessary preparations are in place for the effective implementation of the SINAG Project.

The Cebu City Nutrition Office (CCNO) was represented by OIC Bliss Iguana, together with Nutrition Officers II Camille Alatraca and Lyka Salon.

Through strengthened inter-office collaboration and partnership with RAFI, the team remains committed to advancing initiatives that promote improved nutrition and the well-being of communities in Cebu City.

TURNOVER OF THE IMPROVED BARANGAY HEALTH CENTER AND NUTRITION OFFICE – BRGY. SAMBAG II

A meaningful milestone for the community of Barangay Sambag II as we celebrate the turnover of the improved Barangay Health Center and Nutrition Office, made possible through the strong partnership of the Cebu City Government, Barangay Sambag II, and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI).

The activity was graced by City Mayor Hon. Nestor Archival, whose support underscores the city government’s commitment to strengthening community-based health and nutrition services and making these services more accessible to every family.

The Cebu City Nutrition Office joined the said activity represented by OIC Bliss Iguana and Nutrition Officer II Aldren Abarquez.

The Cebu City Government, in partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI), continues to strengthen programs supporting the health and nutrition of mothers and young children through Project Sustainable Intervention for Nutrition and Growth (SINAG) - Early Childhood Health and Nutrition (ECHN).

A two-day Leadership and Governance Module 4: Co-Designing was held on September 29 to 30, 2026, at Montebello Villa Hotel in Cebu City, bringing together representatives from various Cebu City Government offices and partner organizations to develop more responsive and sustainable interventions for early childhood health and nutrition.

The activity gathered representatives from the Cebu City Nutrition Office (CCNO), Cebu City Health Department (CHD), Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS), Public Information Office (PIO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Cebu City Nutrition Network (CCNN), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Cebu City Office, and other concerned offices and stakeholders.

Participants also worked on the Program Brief and Full Value Contract, translating the identified priorities into concrete directions for the implementation of Project SINAG-ECHN.

The initiative recognizes the importance of providing proper health and nutrition support from pregnancy through the first five years of a child's life, laying the foundation for healthy growth and development.

For the Cebu City Government, strengthening early childhood health and nutrition requires a coordinated effort among government offices, barangays, healthcare and nutrition workers, civil society organizations, and other partners.

Through Project SINAG, the City Government and its partners continue to work toward creating an environment where mothers receive appropriate support and every child in Cebu City has a stronger foundation for a healthy and thriving childhood.

The Cebu City Nutrition Council (CCNC) recently conducted its 3rd Quarter Meeting at the 8th Floor Conference Hall, Executive Building, Cebu City Hall.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Prince Rameses Badana, representing the Deputy Chairperson, Hon. Nyza C. Archival.

The meeting focused on key nutrition-related matters, including the sharing of the 2026 Nutrition Month Accomplishment, presentation of the 2026 Operation Timbang Plus (OPT Plus) Results, the approval of the proposed expansion of the Cebu City Nutrition Council, and updates on the implementation of Project SINAG at the city and barangay level.

These agenda items aimed to strengthen the Council’s nutrition programs and initiatives and support more effective implementation of nutrition interventions across Cebu City.

Together with Cebu City Nutrition Office, City Health Department, and our partners, we conducted the annual Buntis Congress this day together with our moms and moms to be.

Importante ni nga kalihokan sa atong city government since maka-educate ta sa atong mga inahan sa pag amping sa ilahang gisabak ug sa kaugalingon especially on practicing healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and how to take care of themselves during postpartum.

On behalf sa atong Mayor Nestor Archival, mapasalamaton ta sa mga participants sa Buntis Congress ug atoa sila gihatagan og pahalipay para usab sa pagtabang ka nila.

The Cebu City Nutrition Office recently conducted the Nutrition Forum for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers on August 28, 2026 at the CREMDEC Training Hall, Brgy. Taptap, Cebu City.

The forum catered to pregnant and lactating mothers from the upland barangays of Cebu City, providing them with valuable information and guidance on proper nutrition, maternal health, and overall well-being.

The activity featured resource speakers from the Cebu City Health Department, who shared their expertise on important topics concerning maternal and mental health:

The forum aimed to empower mothers with knowledge and practical guidance to support a healthy pregnancy, successful lactation, and the overall well-being of both mother and child.

Through initiatives like this, the Cebu City Nutrition Office continues to promote proper nutrition and holistic maternal care, especially during the critical first 1,000 days of life.

Earlier today, the NNC Undersecretary of Health and NNC Executive Director Dr. Albert Francis E. Domingo and Dr. Jerome Joseph M. Baseleres conducted a surprise monitoring visit to the Taboan Public Market in Cebu City to check on the city's famous dried fish market.

Joining Usec. Domingo were representatives from the National Nutrition Council Region VII, including RNPC Dr. Niño Archie S. Labordo and Nutrition Officer III Nasudi Soluta. The team visited and monitored various stores within the public market to check the availability and compliance of iodized salt.

The Cebu City Nutrition Office (CCNO), through OIC Shaira Camille L. Alatraca, together with Nutrition Officers II Vanessa Lyka A. Salon, Alyanna Seville, and Aldren D. Abarquez, assisted also during the monitoring visit.

Also present were Barangay Captain Clifford Jude G. Niñal, Barangay Councilors Khristy D. Roque and Melinda M. Desamparado and CNS Racquel Amancio, who helped facilitate the visit and ensured that the monitoring team was able to reach as many stores as possible.

The activity highlights the continued collaboration of national, regional, city, and barangay stakeholders in ensuring the proper implementation of salt iodization and food fortification programs, helping promote better nutrition and protect communities from micronutrient deficiencies.
