💖 Dok, 40 na ko. Possible pa ba nga mabuntis ko?
This is a question I hear quite often, especially from women who feel that they may have waited “too long” to start a family.
The answer is: YES, pregnancy is still possible.
Age 40 is not an expiration date for fertility. But as we get older, especially approaching our late 30s and early 40s, fertility naturally decreases. It may take longer to conceive because both the number and quality of our eggs decline with age.
Pregnancy at this age also needs a little more attention. The risks of miscarriage, chromosomal abnormalities, gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and preeclampsia gradually increase as maternal age increases.
But increased risk does not mean that something will necessarily go wrong.
In my own practice, I have had patients in their early 40s who became pregnant and successfully delivered healthy babies. 🥰 Their pregnancies simply required closer monitoring and individualized prenatal care.
So if you’re 37, 38, 40, or even beyond and still dreaming of becoming a mother, don’t automatically assume that it’s already too late.
What I don’t recommend is waiting too long to ask for help.
If you’re 35 or older and have been trying regularly for about 6 months without becoming pregnant, consider seeing your OB-GYN for evaluation. If you’re already over 40, it may be better to seek advice even earlier.
Your age is important—but it is only one part of your fertility story. ❤️
Sometimes the first step is simply finding out where you stand.
