As part of the National Hospital Week celebration, the Region 1 Medical Center Public Health Unit conducted the Golden Years Wellness Initiative at Barangay Baybay Polong Binmaley, Pangasinan last August 4, 2026, honoring the wisdom, resilience, and invaluable contributions of older adults.
The activity aimed to promote healthy aging by equipping senior citizens with essential health knowledge and encouraging healthier lifestyle practices to improve their overall well-being.
The program featured health education sessions on Hypertension, Dengue Prevention and Control, and the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Diet. These discussions provided participants with practical information on preventing and managing common health conditions while promoting proper nutrition and healthier lifestyle choices. The participants actively engaged in the lectures and demonstrated enthusiasm throughout the activity.
The initiative was facilitated by our PHU Head, Dr. Merliza Estaris together with Dr. Nela Florian Burca, Mr. Jeffrey Magalong, Mr. Bradley Bianzon, Mr. John Ray Bautista, Ms. Julie Pearl Maramba, and Mr. Elmer Magalong. Their expertise and dedication greatly contributed to the successful delivery of the health education sessions and wellness activities.
The successful implementation of the initiative was made possible through the support and cooperation of the Barangay Officials of Baybay Polong, the participating senior citizens, and the dedicated staff of the R1MC Public Health Unit. Through these collaborative efforts, the activity reinforced the importance of preventive healthcare and empowered older adults to make informed decisions toward achieving active, healthy, and productive aging.
