Ngayong buwan ng Marso, ating ginugunita ang Drowning Prevention Month upang paalalahanan ang bawat Pilipino na maging ligtas sa mga aktibidad sa tubig. Layunin ng kampanyang ito na palawakin ang kaalaman ng publiko tungkol sa mga panganib ng pagkalunod at kung paano ito maiiwasan.

Ang pagkalunod ay isa sa mga pangunahing sanhi ng aksidenteng pagkamatay, lalo na sa mga bata.
Ngunit tandaan: ang pagkalunod ay maaaring maiwasan sa pamamagitan ng tamang kaalaman at pag-iingat.

Ang Department of Health (DOH) nagahangyo sa atong mga komunidad nga magtinabangay ug magbantay sa usag usa kung adunay insidente sa pagpaak sa halas.

Kon adunay mapaakan, tabangi siya nga magpabiling kalmado ug likayi ang sobra nga paglihok aron dili mokatag dayon ang hilo sa lawas. Importante nga madala dayon ang pasyente sa pinakaduol nga ospital o health facility.

Kon luwas ug posible, ang pagkuha og hulagway sa halas o paghinumdom sa dagway niini, makatabang sa health workers sa pag-ila kung venomous ba o dili. Pananglitan, usahay ginatan-aw ang porma sa ulo (sama sa triangular nga head) o ang kolor ug pattern sa lawas. Kini nga impormasyon makatabang aron mapadali ang paghatag sa hustong tambal, ilabi na nga ang antivenom limitado ra ug kinahanglan gamiton sa sakto nga kaso.
