GUM DISEASE & HEART HEALTH

A study in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology followed 65,000 people.
Those who visited the dentist regularly had significantly lower rates of heart attack and stroke.
Not because clean teeth protect the heart directly.
Because removing the bacterial load reduces the systemic inflammation that does.
The connection shows up on a blood test.
It was there before the cardiac event.
Nobody ordered it.

Ignoring a missing tooth can set off a chain reaction that compromises your entire oral health.

When a tooth is lost, the effects go far beyond the visible gap. Nearby teeth begin to shift into the empty space, altering your bite and creating uneven forces during chewing. Over time, the opposite tooth may start to over-erupt because it no longer has contact to keep it in position. What starts as a small space can quickly turn into a breakdown of your bite stability.

But the most serious change happens beneath the surface. Without the stimulation from a tooth root, the surrounding jawbone begins to shrink. This bone loss can gradually affect facial structure, leading to a more sunken appearance and making future treatment more complex.

Replacing a missing tooth early — with options like implants or bridges — helps preserve bone, maintain alignment, and protect the long-term health of your mouth.

❌❌ Huwag kang magpapa-braces kung:

𝟭. 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗸𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.

𝟮. 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗸𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝘀-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 / 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

𝟯. 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗸𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗴-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗮 𝟭–𝟯 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.
Tooth movement is slow and gradual. Hindi ito mabilisang fix. Kung naghahanap ka agad ng improvement o results in the first 3 months, iba ang procedure na para sa'yo.

𝟰. 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗸𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲.
Food particles na nasstuck sa wires/brackets can cause cavities and bacterial growth in the long run.

Mabubulok ang ngipin kapag napabayaan that may lead to infections, or worse, extractions.

❌ 4. Delayed or worse treatment results

𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼, 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗸𝗮 𝗻𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. ❌
Tandaan: Once a month lang kayo nagkikita ng dentista mo. The other 30 days?

🚨 A Tooth Infection Can Turn Into a Medical Emergency

What starts as a small pocket of pus around a tooth (dental abscess) is actually a growing bacterial infection—not just “tooth pain.”

If ignored, these bacteria don’t stay limited to the tooth. They can spread into the face, jaw, and neck… and in severe cases, enter the bloodstream.
At that point, the body can go into a dangerous inflammatory state that affects vital organs and may require emergency medical care.

Watch for these red flags:
Swelling of the face, severe or worsening pain, fever, difficulty swallowing, or feeling unusually weak. These are warning signs your body is struggling to control the infection.

Treatment is not optional here—it’s urgent.
Draining the abscess, root canal treatment, or removing the infected tooth stops the infection at its source before it spreads further.

A dental infection is not “just dental.”
In rare but serious cases, it can become a whole-body problem.

If your tooth pain feels worse at night, you’re not imagining it—there’s a real reason behind it.

When you lie down, blood flow to the head increases, raising pressure inside an already inflamed tooth. Because the dental pulp is enclosed in a small, rigid space, even a slight rise in pressure can intensify pain signals.

At the same time, pain becomes more noticeable at night. With fewer distractions and reduced sensory input, the brain focuses more on discomfort—making the toothache feel sharper and more persistent.

There’s also a circadian effect. Pain sensitivity tends to increase at night, and as the effects of pain relief wear off, underlying issues like pulp inflammation, deep decay, or infection become more evident.

This is more than just discomfort. Persistent or night-time tooth pain is often a sign of an underlying dental problem that needs timely evaluation.
