Does your tummy hurt after fatty/ oily meals? Especially in the right upper part of the tummy, below the ribs?

You might have gallstones.

Gallstones can block the cystic duct, which is the opening of your gallbladder. If this happens, the pressure inside the gallbladder can rise, leading to inflammation, and eventual gangrene, necrosis, and rupture of the gallbladder.

Gallstones can also fall through the cystic duct and get lodged within the common bile duct, causing yellowing of the skin (jaundice), tea-colored urine, and grey/white (acholic stools). Prolonged blockage of the common bile duct can lead to cholangitis, which can lead to fever, seizures, and death.

If the gallstones fall through the common bile ducts and block the Pancreatic duct, this can lead to a condition called Gallstone Pancreatitis. Mild gallstone pancreatitis is a self-limiting disease, but severe pancreatis can lead to several complications such as pancreatic necrosis, pseudocyst formation, and SIRS (Severe Inflammatory Response Syndrome).

If you have gallstones and experience recurrent abdominal pain, get yourself checked by a surgeon! Prevention of the complications of gallstones is the key to avoiding prolonged hospital stay, and unnecessary morbidity.

Large goiters can cause blockage of the airways and cause difficulty of breathing. They can also cause obstruction of the esophagus, leading to difficulty swallowing.

Some goiters can also cause hoarseness or "pagpapaos" because they can put pressure on the Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve that controls the vocal cords.

Get your Goiters checked before they cause compressive symptoms.

Ano ba ang "General Anesthesia"

Ang "General Anesthesia" ay combination ng mga IV na gamot (dumadaan sa ugat), at Gas (dumadaan sa baga) na binibigay sa isang pasyente para patulugin siya pag may ginagawang "Major Surgery".

Kadalasan kailangan lagyan ng tubo na dumadaan sa bibig papunta sa baga ng pasyente para suportahan ang kanyang paghinga at para diretso sa baga pumunta ang pampatulog na gamot.

Ginagamit ang "General Anesthesia" sa pinakamalaki at pinakamahirap na mga opera- ang "Major Surgeries".
