Recognizing the warning signs and knowing how to respond to students in distress are important steps in su***de prevention. As teachers, our responsibility to respond to the needs of our students is a shared responsibility.

A Heart That Serves, A Community That Heals: GVDNHS Teachers Empowered Through Free Psychological First Aid Session

Gov. Vicente Duterte National High School (GVDNHS) in partnership with LSL Counseling and Testing Center successfully conducted a free Psychological First Aid (PFA): A Structured Guide for Community Beginners for its teaching personnel. The session was generously facilitated by Ma'am Liezel S. Lopez, RGC, PhD(c), Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LSL Counseling and Testing Center, in support of the school's recovery efforts following the recent flash flood that affected many GVDNHS learners and teachers.

The session equipped teachers with practical skills to provide immediate psychosocial support, respond with empathy, and promote emotional safety among students experiencing stress and trauma. More than a professional development activity, it strengthened the teachers' capacity to become a source of hope, comfort, and resilience for every learner.

The GVDNHS family sincerely thanks Ma'am Liezel S. Lopez and the LSL Counseling and Testing Center for their generosity in providing this session free of charge. This meaningful partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting mental wellness, building a caring school community, and ensuring that every learner feels supported.

Last July 17, 2026, we were honored to welcome the Guidance Team of Assumption College of Nabunturan (ACN) to LSL Counseling and Testing Center for an ocular visit and consultation.

The visit served as an opportunity to discuss the school’s current concerns, explore effective processes in supporting students, and strengthen our referral system and collaborative partnership for the upcoming school year. Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to providing quality, accessible, and student-centered mental health services.

LSL Counseling and Testing Center OPC extends its heartfelt gratitude to Rizal Memorial Colleges, Inc. for inviting our Chief Operating Officer, Liezel S. Lopez, RGC, PhD(c), as the resource speaker for the faculty training on School Safety Preparedness, Early Intervention, and Student Well-being held on July 10, 2026, attended by both the Basic Education and College Departments.

With the increasing concerns surrounding school violence, bullying, cyberbullying, mental health challenges, self-harm, and other critical incidents affecting learners, it is more important than ever for school personnel to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately, and create a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

School safety is a shared responsibility. Every teacher, administrator, and school staff member plays a vital role in protecting students—not only physically, but also emotionally and psychologically. Preparedness, early intervention, and compassionate support can make a life-changing difference.
