The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Region XI proudly joins the nation in celebrating 2026 Nutrition Month with the theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!" This year's celebration reminds us that good nutrition and a healthy environment go hand in hand. By protecting our natural resources, promoting sustainable food systems, and making nutritious food accessible to all, we are investing in healthier families and more resilient communities.
At DEPDev Region XI, we recognize that nutrition is not solely a health concern: it is a
development concern. A well-nourished population is more productive, more resilient, and better equipped to contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic growth. This is why nutrition remains an important cross-cutting priority in our regional development agenda.
Through the Davao Regional Development Plan 2023โ2028 Midterm Update, we continue to advocate for nutrition-sensitive policies, investments, and programs that address the root causes of malnutrition. We work closely with national government agencies, local government units, development partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector to strengthen multisectoral collaboration and ensure that nutrition is integrated into planning, budgeting, and implementation across all levels.
As the Secretariat of the Regional Development Council XI, DEPDev also supports the coordination of initiatives that promote food security, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, safe water and sanitation, maternal and child health, and social protection โ all of which contribute to improving the nutritional well-being of every Dabawenyo.
Our commitment goes beyond planning. We remain steadfast in championing evidence-based decision-making, strengthening partnerships, and promoting development strategies that leave no one behind, especially our children, mothers, indigenous peoples, and vulnerable communities.
As we celebrate Nutrition Month, let us remember that achieving better nutrition is a shared responsibility. Every action, whether reducing food waste, supporting local farmers, protecting our environment, or making healthier food choices, brings us closer to a future where every Dabawenyo has the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life.
Together, let us protect nature, nourish our people, and build a stronger, healthier, and
more sustainable Davao Region.
Happy 2026 Nutrition Month!
