Celebrating World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day!

βHenry Dunant, also known as Jean Henri Dunant, was a Swiss businessman and humanitarian best known as the founder of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.

βHe was born on May 8, 1828, in Geneva. After witnessing the suffering of wounded soldiers during the Battle of Solferino, he was deeply moved and organized local people to help injured soldiers regardless of their nationality.

βBecause of this experience, he wrote the book A Memory of Solferino, which inspired the creation of the Red Cross movement and the idea of protecting wounded soldiers during war. His efforts also helped lead to the first Geneva Convention.

βIn 1901, Henry Dunant received the very first Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work.β He is remembered worldwide as a symbol of compassion, humanity, and service to others.
