DENGUE CASES SA DAVAO CITY, MIKUNHOD OG KAPIN 61% — CHO

Mikunhod og kapin 61% ang mga kaso sa dengue sa Davao City gikan Enero hangtUd Mayo ning tuiga kumpara sa samang panahon sa miaging tuig, sumala sa City Health Office (CHO).

Matud ni Melodina Babante, Program Manager sa Tropical Diseases Prevention and Control Unit sa CHO, nakatala ang siyudad og 644 ka kaso sa dengue ug 7 ka namatay gikan Enero hangtud Mayo 2026.

Mas ubos kini kumpara sa 1,674 ka kaso ug 17 ka namatay sa samang panahon niadtong 2025.

Gibutyag usab ni Babante nga mikunhod og 58.82% ang mga namatay tungod sa dengue, nga nagpakita sa positibong epekto sa padayong mga programa batok sa maong sakit.

Bisan pa sa maayong datos, giingon sa CHO nga dili dapat mahimong kampante ang publiko ilabina nga nagsugod na ang ting-uwan, diin mas daghan ang mga breeding sites sa lamok.

Gipasalamatan usab niya ang kooperasyon sa mga barangay, lokal nga panggamhanan, ug mga komunidad nga nakatampo sa pagkunhod sa dengue cases sa dakbayan.

We recently concluded two insightful sessions that brought together biomedical research, public health, and innovation through the experiences of professionals making meaningful contributions in their respective fields.

The conversation continues as Mr. Jun Ryan Orbina, MSPH, MSc, Technical Officer of the Demand and Innovation Team under the Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals of the World Health Organization, takes the stage for the second and final session of our special lecture series.

Rainy reason check: umbrella ✔️ jacket ✔️ leptospirosis awareness? 👀

With the strong rains happening recently in the Davao Region, leptospirosis becomes a bigger health risk that we should never ignore. Floodwaters may carry bacteria from contaminated animal urine, and these bacteria can enter the body through tiny cuts or wounds on the skin. 💧

Awareness matters more during this season. If you were exposed to floodwater and later experience fever, headache, muscle pain, or weakness, don’t ignore it — early treatment is important! Stay cautious, wear proper footwear, and keep yourself protected.

Stay dry. Stay informed. Stay safe, Davao! 🌴✨

As occasional rains begin and humidity rises, mosquito breeding sites start to multiply in our communities. Before dengue cases surge during the peak rainy months, now is the time to protect our homes, families, and barangays.

In the last 𝟭𝟭 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟰–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰), the 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 recorded 𝟯𝟮,𝟭𝟯𝟲 dengue cases — with 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 accounting for 𝟱𝟰.𝟳% of the total reported cases in the region.

🔍 𝐃𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐎 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒:

🛡️ 𝐁𝐄 𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐑!
Follow the DOH ENHANCED 4S STRATEGY:
1️⃣ 𝐒earch and Destroy – Check gutters, tires, flower pots, and containers for stagnant water. Clean and empty them regularly.
2️⃣ 𝐒ecure Self-Protection – Wear light-colored long sleeves and apply mosquito repellent, especially during early mornings and late afternoons.
3️⃣ 𝐒eek Early Consultation – Do not ignore fever symptoms. If fever lasts for 2 days or warning signs appear, seek medical attention immediately.
4️⃣ 𝐒ay Yes to Fogging – Support localized fogging during outbreaks to help control the spread of infected mosquitoes.

Dengue spreads fast — but prevention starts with us.

Before the heavy rains arrive, let awareness come first. Clean surroundings, a vigilant community, and early action can help save lives. Together, let’s protect our homes, safeguard our families, and keep our barangays safe, healthy, and dengue-free. 🏡💜
