Prosthetic socket lamination is the technical fabrication process of layering reinforcing fabrics and liquid resin to create a lightweight, high-strength definitive prosthetic socket. This composite structure securely holds a patient's residual limb and connects directly to the rest of the prosthetic components.

A positive cast is a 3D anatomical replica of a residual limb, created by pouring plaster into an initial negative cast mold. Prosthetic Technician use this replica to modify and build the prosthetic socket, ensuring it distributes pressure evenly and fits the user perfectly.
