WHEN THE RADIAL HEAD CAN NO LONGER BE REBUILT, SOMETIMES IT HAS TO BE REPLACED.

A man in his 30s sustained a high-energy elbow injury after a motorcycle accident, resulting in a severely comminuted fracture of the radial head and neck.

The radial head is a small but extremely important part of the elbow. It helps maintain:

* elbow stability
* smooth forearm rotation
* proper load transmission from the wrist to the elbow

In this case, the fracture was too fragmented to reliably reconstruct.

So instead of trying to fix multiple small pieces that may not heal in the correct position, we performed a:

RADIAL HEAD REPLACEMENT

The damaged radial head was removed and replaced with a metallic prosthesis, restoring the radiocapitellar articulation and allowing smooth pronation and supination of the forearm.

Final intraoperative imaging showed:

Good implant position.
Restored joint alignment.
Stable elbow articulation.
Smooth forearm rotation.

The goal is not simply to replace a broken bone.

The goal is to restore the mechanics of the entire elbow so the patient can regain motion, stability, strength, and function.

Some fractures can be fixed.

Some fractures are too destroyed to reconstruct reliably.

Knowing when to repair—and when to replace—is part of fracture surgery.

SOMETIMES, SUCCESS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE AN AWARD.
SOMETIMES, IT LOOKS LIKE A REFERRAL.

Lately, I’ve been meeting new patients who tell me:

“Doc, you treated my friend.”
“Doc, my relative was your patient before.”
“Doc, someone you operated on told me to come see you.”

And sometimes, I can no longer even remember the patient who referred them.

But they remembered.

They remembered being treated.
They remembered getting better.
And when someone they cared about needed an orthopedic surgeon, they trusted me enough to send them my way.

For me, that is a quiet kind of success.

Not the titles.
Not the certificates.
Not the number of surgeries.

But knowing that somewhere along the way, a patient walked away feeling well enough—and cared for enough—to recommend me to someone they love.

That means more than most people realize.

To every patient who has trusted me with your pain, your injury, your surgery, and your recovery—

Thank you.

And to those who quietly tell their family and friends,

“Go see my doctor.”

That may be one of the greatest compliments a doctor can ever receive.

Your trust built this practice—one patient at a time.

Thank you for the trust.
I will continue doing my best to serve everyone!

One of the most rewarding parts of being a doctor isn’t found in the consultation fee or the operating room.

It’s when a patient comes back with vegetables from their garden, freshly picked mangoes, fruits, fish, homemade cake, chocolates, or whatever they have to share.

Many of them don’t have much. Yet they still find a way to give something extra.

To me, these gifts have never been about their monetary value. They are expressions of gratitude and trust.

Years ago, we simply called this Good Patient Care. And I still believe that’s exactly what it is.

When patients feel genuinely cared for, respected, and understood, they remember. Sometimes they say “thank you” with words. Sometimes they say it with a bag of mangoes or fresh vegetables.

Those simple gifts remind me that medicine has always been about more than treating a disease.

It’s about caring for people well enough that they feel cared for.

And no expensive gift can ever mean more than that.

The Consultation is Part of the Treatment

One of the most important things I do in clinic isn’t writing prescriptions or scheduling surgery.

It’s explaining.

Every consultation is different. The same diagnosis may need to be explained in a different way for every patient. Some want the medical details. Others simply want to know why it hurts, what happens if they wait, and what the best options are.

My goal is never just to tell patients what to do.

My goal is to help them understand their condition well enough that the decision becomes their own—made with confidence, not fear.

Sometimes it feels like teaching an entire chapter of a book to one person at a time.

Because an informed patient is more likely to follow treatment, recover well, and be satisfied with the outcome.

If you’ve ever been one of my patients, I hope you left the clinic not only with a diagnosis, but with a clear understanding of your problem and the reasons behind the treatment plan.

Understanding comes first. Treatment follows.

💬 If you’ve consulted with us before, we’d love to hear from you. Share your experience in the comments. Your story may help someone else take the first step toward getting the treatment they need.
