This page was started to keep track with this very big family that is not only in Negros but also spread to Cebu, Mindanao, and even Manila.
The first person to compile information on the Teves cousins of her generation was Doña Rosario Vicente de Moras. She began before the war started with a natural curiosity, and after seeing the loss and devastation of the War, she planted the seeds of this genealogical project and ensured we will always know one of our many roots.
And then she passed the torch to a few other people but you had José Pedro Tiongson and Carmelita Tiongson de Alcántara, who showed a lot of interest, and kept it going with their "band of merry jamboreers” — very good friends that had nothing else better to do during their free time and was curious themselves to see what this near-mythical clan was all about.
And then Serafín "Nito" Teves III assumed the stewardship of this fount of genealogical knowledge and kept it up to date up until he passed, also with his own band of merry musketeers — also family friends who helped him until their last breath. 2019-2022 was a very dark period for many.
It has been with much honour that I received this fount of genealogical knowledge. An impressive database that takes account for at least 95% of relatives, even the more obscure ones. And no, this is not all fluff, all this is backed by old records that withstood the test of time — war, calamity, loss, and all. I am also aided by cousins who are more than happy to keep this project going, so they may also one day recount the many stories of old to their children, and their children’s children.
I hope to hear from everyone, especially relatives near and far, so we can keep this going for decades to come, and then we can pass this on to the future generations so they may never forget from whence we all came from — a penniless merchant who sailed to a strange land and built himself up from perseverance and fortitude, and whose children and grandchildren emulated the same when their time came to prove themselves to the world.
